Beric nods. "The dead rising. such is quite outside my knowledge, of course, but Archmaester Frennic of Higher Mysteries may be able to shed some light...but, if half of these stories are true, there is someone here working deeds not seen since Valyria...or even the Long Winter."

"Would you mind if I travelled with you to the Citadel after the tournament, that I might speak with him on this matter? I will bring a few men, but not so many as to incumber you and I promise they shall cause no trouble whilst inside your domains," he replied. "We have been both allies and enemies in the past, and perhaps we might be allies again."

"All are allies when the dead walk," Beric agrees. "Of course, my lord. Our train will probably be painfully slow anyhow."

"As you say, Lord Hightower, and I agree. I confess, however, I had another reason for coming as well. My younger daughter is as yet unwed, and I would offer her as a wife for your son Ser Alaric," he replied.

Lord Beric nods. "A fine offer, my lord, were he not now betrothed to Lady Elayne Lannister of Lannisport. A recent match; only a month before the meeting were the particulars worked out."

Oberyn frowned. "I doubt your daughter is interested in thinking of such things currently, but my son Ser Aaron is yet unwed and I would be pleased to make such a match at a more appropriate time," he replied.

"I shall speak to her on the matter," he promised.

Arania made her way in to see her father, a grim and determined look on her swollen face.

Her father is sitting at his desk, seeming active today, drinking good whiskey to dull any pain. "Yes, Arania?" He notes her look. "I can see this is going to be fun," he says with a smile.

She managed to smile back. "I've decided to go east, father," she said quickly, before she could change her mind.

Lord Beric nods. "I see. With whom?" His voice is more curious than upset; if she has survived this much, there wasn't too much he could do for fate now.

"With the northerners. Amelia Royce and her friend Danya Frey are going." Her voice wavered a little bit. "And Kal Stark."

Her father looks at her curiously. "I see. And you like this Kal, then?" He shrugs. "I can't really have a problem with that, dear."

She looked back at him, surprised her father did not seem to mind. Of course she said nothing about the night she spent with the heir to Winterfell, or anything else. She simply nodded, blushing very faintly pink. "I...thank you. I'll write you every day. I'll write a whole book on Volantis and Lys and Meereen and the rest. I..." She smiled brightly at her father. "Thank you."

"Of course, if you promise me to marry the man." He said finally. "Rumours are too common around this camp now after the Dayne incident for me to be able to find you a good marriage now." He grins a bit archly. "A better one, anyway."
