"How old is your sister, Your Grace?" Quentyn asked before Killion could reply. "If she is yet able to bear children, she might be a suitable wife for my prince."

Terrence shook his head sadly. "Her son was born breech. The delivery ruined her fertility," he said. "That is how I can guarantee you that Seagard will be ruled by my son."

"It is no secret that the Ironborn are opportunists above all else." Killion replied, turning to face the king. "It was for that reason we once controlled these very lands, the fealty of its lords sworn to the Seastone Chair. Those times have passed and we hold no ill will towards the outcome, but a realm-wide war has a funny way of creating opportunities and marriage a funny way of keeping greed in check."
"As Lord Cleftjaw said, you can not speak for the Goldlands. We will of course desire to keep the lands in the Reach we take from the rebels, but that will be a negotiation we will have with the Goldlands once the war is won and peace is upon us. Those of you on the mainland have a hard time trusting my people. I simply offer my hand and one of your kin the opportunity to sit the Seastone Chair beside me, in an effort to assuage those misgivings."
"My half-sister is 12 and would hardly have the same effect. I offer peace for generations between the North, Goldlands, and Iron Islands; as the next generation of royalty would all be cousins. You counter with peace for one at best, and only between the North and my lands. Besides, how could I face my captains after selling a princess so cheaply? And here I thought we were the brigands."

"We could have both. Killion's sister marries Hector. Your Grace's sister marries King Eurik, largely symbolically. Killion himself is married to...a Lannister. You do have some maiden cousins, do you not, Jaymes?"

Terrence nods in agreement. "A fair deal, Lord Cleftjaw."

"Perhaps I might make a suggestion for Prince Killian's own match," Benjen interjected. "It would require some shuffling around of course with a Western alliance. Amelia Royce, daughter of Lord Royce. I had intended to make her the Lady of Gulltown, which would soon make her a very rich woman. Trade out of the city is strong."

Killion paused for a long moment, surprised at the offer and the knowledge Amelia Royce stood to inherit anything. The thought almost chilled the blood.
"You would allow an Ironborn to inherit Gulltown?" he asked, pointblank.

"Your first child would stand to inherit the Kingship of the Iron Islands," Benjen stated. "For a percentage of the trade that Gulltown makes I offer that your second child be made heir to Gulltown, which remains under the rule of the Vale."

There was another long pause, as Killion considered the offer.
"Forty percent of the tariffs and a claim to levy a portion of the Vale fleet anchored there if we have need." he countered. "Hector marries Tara and I will propose to Brynden that my brother Darion marries one of his kin. That should get us to the same outcome, with only a few additional steps involved."

"Fifteen percent," Benjen countered. "And I do believe the Iron Fleet is large enough to not need reinforcements. After all, the Ironborn pride themselves on their navy, do they not?"

"Let us split the difference generously at twenty five then. And that may be true, but reinforcements on the east coast could have some uses. Let us say...six corsairs and two war galleys. Nothing the Vale fleet cannot afford to loan on occasion." he replied, with measured distaste. "Do not make me barter like a thrall any longer."

"Twenty percent," Benjen offered back, his whiskey going to his lips. "Plus two corsairs and a galley, in an emergency. That and a marriage between Hector and a member of your house is a fair deal."
He turns to Terrence. "Unless my father has anything to add?"

"Shall we call in King Brynden then?" Killion asked, satisfied well enough at the outcome. "Or is he too preoccupied with his marital bliss?"

King Terrence's astounding lack of loyalty to his newfound allies was of course anything but surprising, as were the Greyjoy's ridiculous demands. Brynden's great grandmother was a Tyrell and look how that turned out for us, he thought bitterly at the talk about generations of peace. In addition to that, giving the Ironborn Gulltown and claim to the Mallisters' lands was a very, very bad idea. A horrendous one, even. Truthfully, the idea of an alliance with the Ironborn didn't suit him mostly because of their religious differences, as the westerners were already considered pariahs in the eyes of the Faith.
Once they were done bartering, the Lord Lannister cleared his throat. "I believe the king has already left, so I will speak on his behalf," he said, bit more sternly than he'd intended. He turned to Prince Killion. "I suppose you can tell your father that you may not claim the Arbor, because in addition to you having no claim to it, we are in an alliance with Lord Redwyne. In fact, despite your desire to do so, you will not be gaining any land from us, unless King Brynden sees fit to grant it to you." Which he genuinely doubted. "A marriage, however, could be done."
He tried to think of any eligible cousins Brynden had.
