"Did you wish to marry La-Princess Joanna?" he inquired with a smirk. "The marriage would give the Starks, Lannisters, and Greyjoys blood ties that would hold for generations. Though I imagine you and the King Brynden would a have heated debate over which of my nephews would get the privilege of being fostered at Pyke."

"Indeed," Benjen answered with a small chuckle, eying is glass. "I believe Lord Jaymes should be here for this, as King Brynden himself has already left." He nodded for a servant to fetch Jaymes Lannister.
"In the meantime, please remind me of how many siblings you have, Prince Killion."

"A half brother and half sister." he answered, emphasizing the word half. "Darion and Tara, 13 and 12 respectively. Old enough for betrothal, not marriage."

Lord Jaymes was "fetched" around ten minutes later, thinking someone had died, considering the urgency of the request. Upon entering the room, he quickly realized this was not the case.
"My lords," he greeted. If he was aware he was the youngest and shortest person in the room, it did not show.

"I see," Benjen replied to Killion before Lord Jaymes entered. "Lord Lannister, welcome," He said, offering the man a drink. "We are discussing potential marriage alliances between the Iron Islands, Goldlands and the North. I did not wish to speak on your or King Brynden's behalf."

Killion smiled at the Western lord, instinctively covering the ring he had taken from a Westerland knight that he wore on his right ring finger.
"A Lannisport lion, my favorite kind." he said in greeting.

"Why?" Jaymes deadpanned.
The ironborn hadn't of course dared touch the Goldlands thanks to Redwyne in the recent history, but Jaymes had heard of skirmishes and reaving in the North, and thought they even occupied some of their lands. He found himself wishing the Starks had had the decency to talk to him about this first, if they'd really wanted his opinion on the matter, not summon in mid-negotiation.

"Because we need to fight together if we wish to defeat Bryce Dayne and the Faith," Benjen responded to Jaymes. "At present our two lands are not strong enough to fight both of our foes. Therefore and alliance."

"You have Reachmen to kill, Lord Jaymes," Quentyn added, "We are happy to help."

"Lasting peace? Common enemies? Mutual gain? Unmolested trade routes? Safer fishing villages? My charming company?" Killion listed in the same deadpan tone. "Take your pick."

Jaymes shrugged with the confidence of someone whose fishing villages were perfectly safe. "Fair enough. Don't you have dispute over some land in the North, though? Is why I asked."

"Not at all," Quentyn replied, "Cape Kraken belongs to the Iron Islands. It has for generations. I don't believe the North has any interest in contesting that, for the moment."

"Am I to believe," King Terrence finally says, "that if we refused this treaty King Euric wouldn't just do exactly what he plans to do anyway? I imagine he plans on claiming the Arbor, the Shields...maybe even the Stepstones." Terrence shrugged. "Flatly, I don't care. But King Brynden certainly will. Lord Shaun's warships aren't ravaging the countryside, like our own shores were ravaged just six months ago, before," he pointedly added, "you left, and not on your own volition. I cannot promise away lands that aren't mine, nor grant my permission for you to claim islands that belong to my son in law." He tapped his fingers together. "What terms were you proposing, then? Specfically?"

"As regards the North, a lasting peace. Raiding on your shores will be forbidden. We can even finally get around to deciding exactly where Cape Kraken ends and your lands begin." Quentyn paused for a moment, sipping his drink. "I think that's everything. As for war with the Reach, you are quite right to say that that is King Brynden's business."

King Terrence nods. "Indeed. We can agree to that. You can have that deserted castle we fight over as a sign of my...friendship. As to marriages," he says, "My sister is currently the head of House Mallister. Both her children have perished. I am sending my son Hector to become the next Lord of Seagard. You have a sister, Prince Killion? Would becoming the lady of the castle that is your oldest rival in the Bay of Eagles suffice as a measure of my seriousness?"
