"Not if you don't start studying," he laughed. "Eight days. Be ready."

"I will," she vowed. "I'll spend as much time studying as I can. Good day, maesters, and thank you."
She left and returned to her rooms where she opened her books and began to read.

Morgan headed nervously to the exam room. She was extremely nervous and hadn't slept well, her mind running over possible questions and answers and her fear of failure.

As she enters, it seems like the world could end. The papers are passed out and at first it's like she sees Chinese, but once she calms down she has little trouble understanding the quaetions and remembering her answers. By the end of the day she leaves feeling confident. Sara Banefort is walking down the hallways too. Low did it go?"

Morgan smiled nervously at her friend. "It wasn't as hard as I thought it might be," she admitted. "I think I might have done well. I hope so. How are you? I've been so busy studying for a few days, I've barely seen you."

"I passed!" She said excitedly. "Links around," she said. "We will celebrate once you receive word!"

Morgan smiled and hugged Sarah. "Well done! How long was it before you found out?"

"Just a few hours,@ she said. "You'll know tonight!"

Morgan grimaced. "So this is it, tonight I find out if I'm really good enough for all this. Gods, I've not been so nervous since..." She faltered, realised she couldn't say what she really thought. "Since the entrance exam. I know I said I thought it was easier than I expected but what if I've been wrong all along." She sighed. "I worry too much, I know, but it's doubly important for me to do well in the beginning. The other women here aren't taking it seriously, that means it's up to the two of us to show our worth."

Sara nodded and goes to reply, but Morgan is summoned to the audience chamber that instant by a stone faced senior student named Emmael.

She grabbed Emmanuel's arm. "What is this about?" She asked. She had a nasty, sick feeling in her stomach. Her immediate thought was that she'd failed the exam, or accidentally done something wrong.

"Your exam," he said, looking a bit annoyed at her. "Your results are in, apparently."

Morgan winced. "Already? I thought it wouldn't be for a while yet." She had a horrible feeling about it. "Oh gods. I'll go then. Thank you."
She hurried away as swiftly as she could without running.

She enters the room. Archmaester Harlan looks at her silently a moment, then hands her a small jewelry box, a pice of cotton and a single link on it. "Congratulations," he said. A few claps go around.
