"The hell did he burn it for? What the heck is he planning to do?" Korben asks as he watches the castle burn, unsure what exactly the sorcerers brat could be planning. Didn't matter though, he was pretty sure the man was simply dead, and didn't realize it yet.

Uhtred looks at the burning place with disappointment "This needs to be done with. The rabid dog needs to be put down. Can't we push any harder?"

"It won't matter," Ellaria said, riding with them. "He probably fled as soon as he got here with that whore of a wife of his. They'll find succor in Volantis, you can bet your asses on it. This is just a final gift to me." The storied castle is burning with a greenish flame. "And apparently he had wildfire."

Uhtred looked at her "If he's fleeing by ship... no, the ironborn control the stepstones and they are no friends to the Volantese. We might be able to still hunt him down if we hurry. Unless there is still anything to recover from Starfall?"

"Oh...sorry for your loss..." Korben said, remembering that Ellaria was of course a dayne. A good dayne, but still, that was technically her home burning to the ground. "I'm no friend of ironborn, but if they do find em, let them keep em. Maybe they can make a salt wife out of the both of them."

"He'll go to the Summer Isles," she said. "No one would look for him sailing due south before cutting east," she shrugs. "I'm no friend to the Ironborn either. Nor is Prince Arthur, not after they assaulted Dorne. If they catch him they can keep him. He is too weak and stupid to be a major threat now."

"Or his fleet will already have left. Pointless to keep talking about it until we know for sure" Uhtred says, compelling his horse forward "Let's get to the place before we judge."

They gallop to the burning castle. Dozens of charred bodies are everywhere. The prisons have been loosed and crimiinals have fled everywhere. Arthur looks over the scene with anger, but Ellaria is calm as a few ships sail out of the river mouth. "It's over, now," she whispered. "I never thought they'd be gone." Nick looks at her, then back to the fleeing vessels.
"They sure as shit didn't leave much."

Uhtred face remains blank as he checks the vessels flags and designs before glancing at Ellaria "Is there anything else that Bryce may have hidden from even Francis that we should know about? He knew his son was a mad dog, did he keep everything in the castle?"

She shrugs. "I'm sure you can understand I don't exactly have fond memories here. I haven't really been here in almost four years. And my father liked Frances far more than he liked me." Nick hands his sword off and takes his normal steel one out, then spits into the ground and drives the point into it. He closes his eys and thinks.
"If he had anything important, it is gone," he said. "Only the wildfire remains."

Uhtred stares at the green flames "How did they even get it? I thought it was only the alchemists in Kings Landing that had the... ah. Must've taken it from them before he burnt the city to the ground. The secret is lost then."

"You think a sorcerer like him coudn't make something that sets on fire?" Nick asks. "It is difficult and time consuming but hardly impossible." The host has to wait the flames out.

"Perhaps they can all bleed each other dry, now. I'm glad to see you survived my father's...dragon."

Uhtred grunts "Fair enough. I don't even really think the man's dead, mastery he had. Suppose that swords the thing that finished him and made it possible for his final bullshit not to work. You have any fancy sorcery to calm down wildfire?"

"Just time," he said. The army sets up and begins clearing the town at the water's edge for any remaining troublemakers. Ellaria and the others sit on a rock and look over the blue waters. The picture would be scenic if so many hadn't died for it. "You hate the Ironborn too, then?"
