"This one might be especially to your liking," Benjen responded, taking a swallow of ale. "We are going north, beyond the Wall, where we are tracking down the Free Folk. I hope to make them fight for us."

Crowl listen and smiles, "I've had dealings with them in the past, tough and gamey those lot are." Crowl states which gives Benjen the idea that his dealings involved his usual tactics. "Not to mention stubborn, to do that we would need to be highly persuasive."

"That's why I am taking you with me," Benjen said with a slight chuckle. "You Skagossons are practically wildlings yourselves, just on the right side of the Wall. We will stop at Castle Black for a few days to supply and hopefully get a few rangers to show us north. We will also need to convince them to let the Wildlings pass."

"Only difference between them and us is their knees are frozen stiff, you get those to thaw out and don't see why the Nights Watch won't let those who behave pass." Crowl states biting a chunk of boar off straight from the bone.

"Well that is why I am going, to convince the black brothers," Benjen responded, a grin on his face as he drinks... from his skull mug. "I saw your throne."

"You like it?" Crowl says suddenly turning outright gleefull. "I wanted to give it to you for your wedding but I lacked the supplies." He says beaming.

Benjen chuckled. "I am not entirely sure how my father will feel about it and he will still be king for a fair more years." He drank some more ale and set the mug down. "But thank you."

"What man wouldn't like a throne such as that, men will tremble standing before it to hear the king's verdict." Crowl states proudly.

Benjen chuckled. "That may be, but my father is... well, he is a little more subtle in displaying his power."

A herald knocks on the door, informing Prince Benjen of the presence of Septon Martyn at Eddard's Rest. "He wishes to speak with Princess Joanna and yourself at the earliest convenience, my prince," before leaving.

A while later, the septon Martyn is admitted into Princess Joanna's solar. Benjen has been sent word of the meeting, but his presence there is not compulsory.
Joanna, wearing one of her new dresses of Lyseni silk, was standing by the window overlooking the godswood and wondering whether she was ever going to get accustomed to it. Her room at Lannisport had had a magnificent view of the busy port and the sea, and she found she missed that the most sometimes. As the septon entered the room, she looked to him, half-curious about the man behind all those controversial western rumours she'd heard when she was younger.

Martyn inclined his head and bowed before the Stark-née-Lannister princess. He had discarded his Septon's robes in favour of doublet and breeches. The only thing that would differentiate him from any other noble in Eddard's Rest was the small seven-sided crystal hanging from his neck.
"My princess, you have my thanks for taking time out of your day to meet with me. Your family's house has been invaluable in aiding me both in getting here and in my other endeavours." His eyes remained steadfastly on hers, though he had become schooled in using his peripheries to study the outline of Joanna's dress.

Prince Benjen arrived a moment later, giving the man a friendly nod before pouring drinks for everyone.

She had expected someone older and far less handsome, and so was pleasantly surprised her afternoon would not at least be ruined by an ugly mug. She even gave him a small smile as a reward. "Septon Martyn, I presume?" she assumed. "My brother Jaymes mentioned you in his last letter, I believe. Of course additionally to the one you sent.. Although I admit the reading material you was a bit on the heavy side," she quipped, and motioned at a seat after taking one herself. "Please, do sit."
She looked at Benjen briefly, but didn't seem too excited about him third-wheeling the meeting. She knew her husband's tolerance of the Faith was low, at best.

Martyn gratefully took the seat and the cup, not betraying the uneasiness that he felt as Benjen entered. He knew that the Starks shared no love for the Faith, though some had been numbered among its followers in the past.
Regarding them both, he paused before continuing, "I'll be more brief than my letter then. I mean to break the High Septon's hold over the faith."
