The prince and princess of Eddard's Rest's spacious quarters are directly next to each other, though separated by a hall. Joanna has quite a bit more room here than in Lannisport, and a view of the newly-planted godswood of the keep, as well. In general it is suprisingly modern, for being built by northmen.

Benjen came to his wife's quarters on the day of the march. He was dressed in thick blacks, the Direwolf of house Stark on his cloak. At his hip was the sword he had received from Vhagus Blackfyre.

The irony of the view from her new living quarters was not lost on Joanna. Fucking godswoods, she thought with mild annoyance, and turned away from the window to greet her husband with a slight smile that faded as soon as she saw the sword, somehow recognising it. "Why are you using something Vhagus gave you?" she inquired.

"It's good quality, probably the best sword I've ever owned," Benjen responded, tapping the pommel. "I might as well use it against whatever enemies I have."

The couple of an uncertain level of happiness is interrupted slightly by the sound of knocking across the hall at Benjen's door.

"Huh," Benjen said, turning about to open Joanna's door and see who was outside his own rooms.

A young man is outside his door. A long scar runs down the back of his neck, and he seems to be missing fingers. He turns about as the prince opens the door behind him. "Your...Grace, word from...from, Storm's End."

Benjen's face paled a little, hoping to the gods that the news was good, having the dreading feeling it was not.
"Yes? What word do you bring?" He asked, his voice tight in his throat.

"Lord...Bryce, lives, Your Grace. His son...the..." his vocal chords have been cut, leaving his voice ragged and strained. "Snow, he released your sister, and they ran, but then he came to kill the sorcerer....Bryce, yes, Bryce, and he went to kill him and the son caught us. Fra...Frances. Some of them escaped, but I was...knocked out, came to, he had..." he bursts into tears, "he flayed them all alive, Your Grace. I didn't see it, but I saw the bodies. Women, children, men...he said your sister screamed the loudest..."

Benjen stared at the man, his expression unreadable, though his hands were shaking. After a long moment he gives a nod. "How can you be sure it was them?"

Although the man's intrusion had been most welcome, the news he brought had certainly not. Joanna's eyes widened and she slowly raised a hand to her mouth in disbelief mixed with horror. She had to physically stop herself from saying or asking anything unseemly, because her only concern about this all was Nick Snow.

The man shakes his head. "I was with them when we escaped, me and Ellaria Dayne and Isabel Uller and your sister, my prince. Harden fell first, Mychel second," he sighed and breathed out. "We never saw Nicholas again. I heard tell some woman and man died trying to kill the sorcerer. Ellaria had the escape plan, her and Snow, but if she was caught, well, there'd be no where for the others to hide, my prince." He collapses on his knees. "I'm sorry."

"Ellaria... what..." Benjen managed, before his voice stopped working. One hand grasps the hilt of his sword, the other points at the man. "If you didn't see Meera die then she might still be alive damn it! Frances Sand is..." He stopped, realized his whole body was tensed. "They are alive."

The man isn't sure what to say.

Joanna stepped forward, back to her usual self now that it was evident the man had little idea as to what or who exactly he'd seen. She placed a reassuring hand on Benjen's shoulder. "If she is still alive, we will find her," she promised. "I will have my people look into it immediately. Now.." she looked back to the snivelling man and lowered her tone a little. "I think it best this man was questioned again once he is calmer. He might remember something important. You can leave that to me." She gave her husband a small smile.
