"As you will." Ragnar walked away and began to walk among the sentries he'd posted, to find out if there was anything worth noting in the local area.

Harwyn arrives after their discussion with two of his men, muttering to them for a moment before grinning. "So they hold a fortress with one way out. I will approach with some men and speak with them, explain that the only way out is not a small mountain path, but down into the drowned halls. If it comes to it, we will attack before they starve."

Thre'll follow Harwyns lead. Uhtred told him to, and the man finds it nice for a change to not handling things on land, being in a support role. The work on the tree's begins immediately, the ironborn strangely having no trouble finding the necessary axes to chop wood.

Leading a party of twenty of his best men, shields raised, Harwyn approaches the keep in the mountains, stopping at what he judges to be the distance of their archers. Harwyn nods to a few of his men, then shouts at the keep. "I am Harwyn, of the Bloody Brothers. Much of this island is under our control, including the end of this pass. We have the patience to starve you out or the men to quicken it, if it comes to it. Let us speak and you may all survive."

"Not likely," the return call comes. "You name yourself commander of Bloody Brothers and think we'll expect reasonable treatment?"

"That I am offering you an alternative to seeing why we are named such should be reason enough. Seven thousand men stand ready to end this. With your surrender, you may live out your days with your families, instead of dying on a mountain to make no difference in the war. Your fleet is broken, no help will be able to land on these shores." Harwyn kept his eyes on the ramparts as he spoke, ready for any attack, but seemed relaxed.

"We need someone more important to guarantee your terms," the voice says. "Ain't no damned Bloody Brother enforcing peace."

"Very well. Lord Ragnar Drumm, here to speak with King Euric's voice, will join me." With a few words to his men, two of them return to the camp to fetch Ragnar and inform him of the situation.

Ragnar arrives as quickly as he can manage, Red Rain at his side as ever. Joining Harwyn, he asked "What now? Did you offer terms?"

"They will surrender if you agree to the terms, those being that they will live." Harwyn grinned as he spoke, letting out a quiet laugh afterwards. "Amazing how little it takes when faced with death."

Thre hears the conversation but does not stop the construction of the palisade or the crossbowmen preparing positions to defend from it. If it was a ruse, position to fall back to and attack from. If it worked they would be able to handle the prisoners from a position of strength, and maybe use the palisade to coral the people.

Ragnar nodded. "Their lives are the only terms you have offered them?" He asked sharply. "You have not promised them there will be no reaving?"

Harwyn glared at Ragnar, crossing his arms. "Do you take me for a fool? I am Harwyn Goodbrother, and when I say those were the terms, they were the only terms."

"Good. I want no problems with these islanders claiming we did not keep to our terms." He looked up at the castle. "I'm Ragnar Drumm, Lord of Old Wyk," he shouted. "Captain Goodbrother's terms have my approval. Open your gates and yield."
