Fifteen thousand healthy men march to Gulltown, where Lord Richard Grafton waits. Lord Devan Manderly's fleet is preventing any hope of reinforcement, and the northerners can see the city is barred shut from all sides easily enough. The city wall only covers a third of the actual land, though, and as such the majority of the citizens live outside the strong, guarded walls of Gulltown. From people fleeing the conflict, braving the cold over the swords, they learn Lord Richard has about six thousand men or so inside the walls. The battle will not be easy.

The Painted Lady will sail past the blockade (Either sneaking by or getting by on merit of the Stark onboard) in the dead of night, sailing carefully in, then when past the blockade and close enough to Gulltown, lighting up its lanterns and clearly displaying the flag of the Iron Titans.

Ray saw the army coming to the city for some time. He had been staying at an inn and had prepared himself for an eventual fight. He counted himself lucky he was not in the walls since that would be a big hotspot of action soon.

Round 1:
The northern vanguard advances from the west while the main body swings north to hit the city from two sides. Lord Galbart and his elite men strike hard, opening the battle against Lord Richard's left flank.
Lord Galbert: 116 Western guard: 104
Weapons: Galbart: 164 Western guard: 155
The buildings and winding streets inflict chaos on the attackers and defenders, but Lord Galbart's few thousand grind out a vilent campaign against the defenders. His bestial far northern troops are ferocious and cause much damage as people try avoiding the battle and the bitter cold.

Round 1 (north side)
Benjen (+15): 181/189 Darius: 99 Dudley: 130 Fillmore: 213 Gerald: 166
Richard (+7): 157/177 Merrick: 141 Menwyn: 162
Benjen's flank attack crushes Richard's troops in a vise as they rampage through the shops and nobles' houses of northern Gulltown. The roads are wider and gardens keep vision open, letting the leaders maintain better control of their men as they press forward. Lord Richard is forced to pull his men back behind the high walls of the city. In the two battles he loses nearly a sixth of his force in the opening hour of the fight.
Benjen: 10500 Richard: 3400

As the city starts to burn, arrows strafe the soldiers trying to cross the wall. Finally, after what seems an age, the main gate begins creaking. It opens, and Benjen's men flood into the city proper.

Round 2:
Benjen: 167 Richard: 108
The northmen rampage, and Benjen keeps control of his men until the last minute, when the rebels begin a mass surrender. Soldiers set fires and loot and burn as the sack of the rich city begins. The Valemen are too war-weary to want mercy now, and hangings of 'traitors' and rape and looting spread rampantly.

Benjen disliked the pillaging and looting but there was nothing he could do. Instead, surrounded by guards, he went to find the captured Lord Grafton.
