Oriax did not respond, eyes glancing up to the green lights swirling in the sky above them, letting silence hang on the air for a moment as he studied them.

They disappear with the morning sun as the black brothers prepare to move out again. One starts playing some sort of bagpipe as they march. The annoying music actually is entertaining in the monotonous walk. For days they travel until at last they reach Castle Black. "Well, here at last," the First Ranger says. "Welcome home boys!"

Oriax was not one easily impressed, but even his eyes grew wide at the sight of the wonders of the world: The Wall. He knew then that it was not a defensive structure, but a barrier to keep the power beyond contained.
"I would speak with your commander as soon as I am allowed." Oriax told the first Ranger, when he had finished marveling at the sight. "Time is of the essence."

The First Ranger shrugs. He leads him off to the Lord Commander's chambers. Lord Commander Fredric the Frozen Lion Lannister is a powerful man in his mid forties. He looks to the sorcerer with an almost bored expression. "Welcome to the roof of the world, Master Oriax."

"Your hospitality is most appreciated." the sorcerer, replied in greeting, offering the man far more respect than he had kings. "I trust you have been filled in on the situation that brings me here?"

"I heard something about hunting down Harrys Snow," he said. "I also have a letter from Lord Kalvin Stark offering eight hundred pieces of gold for your head." He chuckles and tosses the letter into the fire. "Fortunately, I couldn't give less of a shit about what any of those diva lords care about. My concern is to the north." He looks to Oriax. "I believe the Others are stirring."

"On what charges?" Oriax inquired.
"Then are concerns are aligned commander." he responded, watching the paper burn with some amusement. "I have felt them as well."

"He doesn't need a charge to offer a bounty, I don't think," Fredric says. "but stories say his son was blinded by some shadow a few weeks ago." He points to a map on his wall. "Queen Savinia has assembled a powerful host near Hardhome, nearly a proper army. She's a reasonable sort, though, so flatly I don't care, but to the farrrr northwest, in this land we marked with a question mark, well, word is that something is stirring. Driving the wildling medicine men mad with fury, causing their dead to walk."

"Such prejudice against sorcerers on this continent." Oriax replied sadly, shaking his head. "One shadow stabs an infant and they want to put us all to the torch. It would be akin to beheading all knights just because one forgot his oaths."
He looked at the map, staring in silence as the Lord Commander explained the situation.
"And where would the Ice River be on this map of yours? I believe that is where my quarry makes for."

"The Ice River is six hundred miles long," he says. "He will be headed to its base in the Thenn Mountains." Frederic stabs his finger far north. "You won't like the Thenns."

"You will find I do not like most people, commander." he remarked. "Where is the nearest weirwood grove to the Wall. I will need a supply of sap if I am to be at my best in this endeavor."

"The Others' presence tarnishes it, is what Savinia says. Tarnishes, the very word she uses. Unless you can find a way to make it work." Frederic shrugs. "I know little of such matters."

"I would have a sample at the least, if only to study their effect." he replied, considering the implications. "Is it customary for a commander of the Nights Watch to speak so openly with one not that lies beyond?"

"I don't give a flying fuck," Frederic says. "The one true joy of unburdened autonomy."

"Fair enough." Oriax replied, with a nod. "I would speak with the woman then."
