Having declared for House Grafton, Lord Sunderland's islands have made an ideal base for the Kingsland-Vale-sellsail fleet strangling northern trade. Nearly eighty ships of all types ravage the coasts.

The Dark Dawn sailed into harbor of Sisterton, the temporary base of the Titans as the raiding and blockade continued. Uhtred counted the ships as they pulled up alongside the dock and tried to see how many of the Titans ships were in port.

His entire fleet is present, save two corsairs being repaired from damage caused by a storm. As he watches, Ser Hoyt Grafton approaches. "Been good fighting these months. I'd have thought the Winter Wolves would have had more fight in them."

Uhtred walks onto the dock to greet the man "Manderly's got no hope of reinforcements, and can't even ship in seasoned lumber to build new ships. He can't replace ships like we can. Even with the lumber he's stored away only so much is shipworthy, and it'll take time to make the rest of it good. I imagine the Wolves are being instructed to be overly cautious. Anything new?"

"Actually, yes." He waves a hand towards the small keep that they call a castle. "Lord Sunderland's so desperate to keep his head that he's offering all six of his daughters in marriage. Six daughters, and the son a useless fop." He grins. "Might be that I'll get my own castle after all."

"Heh" He grunts and spits over the side of the dock "My condolences. Does she have gills? Or maybe a tail? You come down here to give us our payment for this moon, or you done with our services?"

He chuckles. "Payment's inside like usual. Lord Celtigar is out for the nonce so you'll have to deal with Velaryon." Hoyt rolls his eyes. "I hate Velaryon."

Uhtred thanks him and points out two of his Braavosi men to accompany him, the ones who actually kept themselves clean and were finely dressed compared to most sailors. When you met with lords, it was better to appear less like what you actually were. Paid muscle. He moved up through the muddy streets, ignoring the calls for attention from the small vendors and prostitutes, heading for where Velaryon waited.

Inside the small keep a raucous party is going on. Knights and warriors drink and party while serving girls bring out ever-increasing amounts of alcohol for the feasts. At the head of the table sits Ser Benson Velaryon, a stout man of thirty five, noted for little save a last name, but who has been placed in command of Lord Jon's ground forces. He faces the newest arrival. "Bravos! Welcome to our feast! Take what you will!"

Uhtred motions to his men to do as they please. He goes up and sits near the head of the table, as befitting his rank. Allowing a serving girl to fill his tankard, he drinks most of it before leaning back and wiping his mouth "Velaryon. What's this cause for celebration? You getting married or something?"

Hoyt chuckles. "I am. Marrying these damned islands. Anyone with any ambition is after Sunderland's daughters. Want one?" He gestures to a few of the women seated off to the side. "Or you still married to that fleet o' yers?"

Uhtred shrugs "Bad luck to bring a woman on board. That's just asking for the storm, and my sailors are superstitious enough to throw her overboard no matter what I would say" he wiggles his mug to at the nearest wench "Where's this months gold? My boys want to waste it all and I've been talking to the shipwright here. He's a idiot, but has a few ideas for hulls I'm willing to listen to."

Hoyt shrugs. "Enjoy your old ship, then." He makes a gesture and a man comes out holding a bag full of coins, mixed from the Free Cities, Westeros, and farther lands. "Here it is, then."

Uhtred takes the bag carefully, noting the have his quartermaster count it later. There was always some profit to be made if a miscount happened. Tucking it into his belt, he toasts Hoyt and set his tankard on the table "Now that I have that, I think I can be more comfortable to ask something that's been a bother. Suppose I don't expect you to know, but what's the next step here? We've got more than enough ships to blockade White Harbor and keep the wolves in their pen, and unless you leave at least a year between raids, you're not gonna get anything except tears and wheat. Not to look into a gift horse in the mouth, but why is Grafton still paying us to be here?"

Hoyt chuckles as he absently watches the ladies. "I suspect we'll be screening an invasion soon enough. A real army, no raid." He glances every way as the hall starts to clear as soldiers pick their one night brides. "A proper conquering host."
