"Lord Redwyne cannot abandon the seat of his own power to us." Ragnar said. "His land, his keep, his income. His family, most of all. If we take the Arbor and hold it, Redwyne must strike at us. His honour will compel him."

Killion rounded on Uhtred with a critical glance, clearly wondering if the sellsail had any sense to ask such a question.
"To draw Redwyne out? To capture his keep and family? To hold one of the most prosperous lands in the Reach? To control the trade routes of the Redwyne straits? To acquire a port to refit and repair to use as a base of operations against Oldtown or Starfall? Revenge? Take your pick of reasons for they are in no short supply."

A scout ship signals. Enemy ships sighted. Unknown number, sailing south.

Uhtred calmly studies the men for a second, then looks at Euric before speaking "Redwyne has already abandoned his island, his peasants fleeing to the islands mountains and ports abandoned. His keep was empty, his family probably transported somewhere safe not on the island." Uhtred frowns and shrugs "I seem to recall the words of the Greyjoy being "We do not sow." Are you intending to take this land, spend years putting down rebellions, and subjugating it while within easy striking distance of the Reach, yet far away from the Isles?"
At the scout signal he narrows his eyes and immediately cuts off what he was saying. "Never mind. Seems Redwyne is here. I'm getting back to my ship."

"That is exactly what I plan on doing. You are right that we do not sow. The thralls do. I do not need a reminder." Killion replied. "We took Fair Isle, we have taken the Shields, we will take the Arbor. That will just be the start."
"And nothing will be in striking distance of the Reach when they are left without a fleet. The seas are ours by right and I mean to claim them in my father's name."
At the signal from the scouts, Killion ordered his forces into a line formation, larger ships making up a strong center and left, cautiously holding back, with the lighter ships making up the right, hooking around to cut off the fleeing ships. He ordered the Iron Fortresses to take shelter in the Shields, unwilling to lose any more of the valuable ships.

Quentyn turned at the sound of the signal.
"It might be another trap," He told Euric, "Like whatever he got Harlaw with. The man's fucking clever, best not to assume we can just sail in and take him."

Interesting discussion. They were more ambitious then they seemed. Uhtred goes to his docked corsair, ready to return to the Kings Demise The fight was on.

/////////////////////// After the battle, the ship captains will resume the conference, the men more weary than before but exhilarated by the victory. The men are smiling but the captains seem dour, as Redwyne was not present nor his Galleon Corps.
Uhtred is there, now bone-tired from the long day of fighting
"If Redwyne wasn't trying to escape the Mander, I doubt he's even at the river. He's slipped away north or south, went by the fleets. His land is burned and abandoned, his port useless without weeks of work. Therefore... north probably. Lannisport. Or the isles? This isn't the full navy here, is it?"

Killion took no pleasure in the victory, for it is a hollow one without Redwyne. He brought each of the captured reachman out, one by one, and questioned them in the manner King Urrron "Redhand" Greyiron had made infamous.
He tied each man to the mast of his ship, slit open their bellies, and shoved his hand up into their guts, uttering one question as he twisted their innards:
"Where is Shaun Redwyne?"
If a man died before answering the question, they were dumped overboard for the sharks, with the next brought forward.

Harwyn is present again, increasingly frustrated by the lack of real action. "I'm half expecting Redwyne to sail to the Islands with our fleet gone. The thralls alone would make an army for him."

The first man screams in pain but spits on him. "Heading home, for you, my prince!" he screams. "With thousands of captured weapons. Trained soldiers. He said the Islands will bleed like they've never bled, and the thralls will make their own salt wives with your fucking sisters!"

Uhtred looks at Harwyn. Seems the man was right on point, though he doubted that the full iron fleet was here. He didn't have numbers, but garrisons were still important to keep as backups. "Seems you're right Harwyn. He means to do to the Isles what we've been doing to him, return the favor." He glances at Killion "Obviously the fleet is splitting up again. Lets try to be in the same one, eh Goodbrother?"

Quentyn was shocked by the idea of an attack on the Islands, but managed to speak. "If we pursue him now, he can't beat us there by much. Can't have taken a direct route, if he wanted to avoid us on the way."

"He must've left as soon as the battle with Harlaw was over. He's at least 8 days ahead of us. Galleons though, so the corsairs might be able to catch up, but they'd never be able to drag down monsters like that. We need our own bigger ones to handle those ships." He looked at Quentyn "I imagine the garrisons left at the Isles can handle a blockade for 8 days, but were there that many thralls taken in the last decade and a half? Could it form a army?"

Killion squeezed the man's intestines until they ruptured before tossing him over the railing. One step forward, two steps back it seemed.
"Without an Iron Fortress he has no means to take the keeps. Nor is there wood on the Iron Isles with which to fashion siege engines. He will have to besiege and starve them out and that buys us time he does not have." Killion replied. "He is no fool, this yet another ruse. He means to draw us hastily back north away from out prizes and lure us into another ambush."
"Cleftjaw, take Volmark and half the corsairs and raid up and down the Mander. Drumm, sail with Farwynd and Goodbrother to secure the Arbor. Remind the Iron Titans what it means to be a reaver if it seems they have forgotten. If Redwyne's family remains I want them alive and unsullied. I will sail north with His Grace and Admiral Saim to deal with Lord Shaun."
