The Shield Islands are composed of four islands: Greenshield, ruled by House Chester; Greyshield, ruled by House Grimm; Oakenshield, ruled by House Hewett; and Southshield, ruled by House Serry. The Shield Islands are located to the west of Highgarden and serves as a shield to the Mander river from the Iron Islands.
When longships are spotted, the elders in the watch towers will light the beacon fires, which in turn will cause other watch towers to light their own beacons and spread the warning to various villages and towns and castles further inland so that they will not be caught unaware by any attack.

Ser Harys sails his fleet into the harbor of Lord Hewett's Town, a large town on the island of Oakenshield in the Shield Islands. From his flagship, Harys could see the green-roofed towers of the small, but strong castle sitting above the harbor.

The town is quiet, fishing boats out and about, a few scouting vessels to the north and west. With the lord's docked fleet, finding room for his galleons will be difficult, but his corsairs can dock without much difficulty.

Harys disembarked from his galleon and made his way to the docks in a small skiff. Once he had landed he made his way up the hill to the castle in order to meet Lord Hewett.

Lord Hewett is a trim, austere man in his early forties. He's seated on an outside wall, drinking a glass of wine and surveying the harbor. "Ser...Harys, is it? An unexpected visit."

"Ser Harys Farman, brother by marriage to Lord Tyrell" replied Harys by way of introduction.
"Yes I suppose my arrival was a little unexpected. So too was the sight of the Iron Fleet heading towards Dorne."

ooc: No one would ever introduce themselves as "brother by marriage".
Lord Hewett shrugs. "Better there than here."

ooc: Why not? "Brother by marriage" is a term used by Raymun Fossoway in the Hedge Knight.
"Were the Shields aware of the fleet? Was Highgarden warned?" Harys replied.

Lord Hewett shakes his head. "I'm not Lord Tyrell. We heard that some of the fleet had left; didn't know it'd be so many of them. The Ironmen aren't usually the most forthcoming."

Harys nodded. "We've been ordered by Lord Tyrell to patrol the coast as fair north as Fair Isle and as far south as the Redwyne Straits. How many warships do the Shields have seaworthy at present?"

"Total? Forty-four. We keep two dozen corsairs manned at any given time; massing them all is far too expensive on a full time basis of course. We can spare eight to assist you." Lord Hewett finished his drink.

Harys nodded. "Thank you, my lord. The extra ships will be welcomed gladly. Lord Tyrell will be advised of your ready co-operation and assistance, when I return to Highgarden."

Lord Hewett nods. "I should warn you; we've heard rumors of some new ship being seen in the east. Got some sort of, well, metal on its hull or something. Could all be exaggerations, of course; I doubt a solid metal boat would sail."

Harys stroked his chin and thought for a moment.
"I have heard of many strange things in this world Lord Hewett, many of which I do not understand. If such a ship exists, and it may well be exaggeration, then that is a matter of concern for the rest of us. Unless of course we were to possess such ships."

Lord Hewett nodded. "Indeed. I think men should be sent in search of their origin."
