Raven took Jason's arm slowly, then nodded,"I could do with a meal, that's when I've been asking for all day." She smiled at him, then her stare went back to the stranger. She was not afraid just glad nothing happened them at the moment.

Jason lead her back into the dining hall and was pleased to see that the castle staff had apparently survived to an extent, as there were now chefs and servants preparing food.

Confrontation over. For now. Uhtred turned back to the sorcerer. "You were saying something before about a book before on the Island. Is it important? I could have men search for it."

Oriax's eyes bore into the back of Jason's head as he departed, though he favored the young woman with him with the same cold smile when she turned to look at him. Some feared what they did not understand, while others were simply intrigued.
"It has likely been claimed by the depths of the God's eye, a fitting resting place." Oriax replied to Uhtred. When he performed his next ritual to locate magical sources, he would be sure, but this was neither the time or place. "But I was told you managed to find another tome in a previous dealings with this Cassadar. I would see that if it remains in the keep."

"Hmph. The depths do have their secrets... but some men have learned to probe those secrets. The prince would know of anything of importance that was found in the keep. If you truly desire to go there though, it would be fastest by water. If you wish to travel there, my ships could be yours... for a price."

Raven saw the smile from the stranger and nodded to show her respects and then continued on with Jason to have their meal.

"I will keep that in mind once I've made my decision." Oriax replied. If he was annoyed by the extortion he did not show it. "And what would your price be, I wonder?"

Uhtred gave the man a funny look "Gold, as is usual when you charter a ship. A representative of Assahai would have no lack for it methinks. I have eleven ships, and can guarantee safe passage and a certain amount of force when we arrive."

"Men quest to Asshai for all kinds of boons from my people." Oriax explained, as if speaking to a child. "Gold is the simplest of requests." There were man in Oriax's order that spent their studies converting base metals into gold, a cheap shortsighted parlor trick as far as he was concerned. Why study for decades to achieve the same end as a successful merchant?
"I will keep your offer in mind."

"Long recovery, son. If the gods will I shall be fine." He gasps. "You and Lord Frey run things right now. No one will doubt that." "I understand..." Benjen said, looking out of the window. "If you'll excuse me, I need to see my son. And a maester." "Of course, my son," Terrence says, closing his eyes. It only takes Benjen a moment to run into Griffyn and a wetnurse, holding the little prince. His face is scrunched from the cold but he seems fine otherwise.

"Two of them? There was another on the island?" She shivered. "And not a mark on you. You've got a long story to tell me, I think. Meraxes, the Valyrian goddess of magic?" She shook her head. "Let's go inside, Kalvin. It's cold out here." She looked around at all the destruction. Cold wasn't all it was. Kalvin nodded and led her to a guest room. "Well, it was more like ran away from in this case, that thing was twenty feet tall, and that's even BEFORE I start exaggerating." He collapses like a stone on the bed. "And yes, apparently some god was behind that fanatic's plan." He looked her over. "It has not been a good day," he concluded, with a certain amount of resignation in his voice.

Reyna flung herself down beside Fyodor. "Oh gods, it must have been so horrid. We were lucky we weren't here or else it would have been worse. Thank you so much for taking care of my husband." "Of course, my lady." The maester nods. "He needs rest, but I amsure you can comfort him." HE quietly leaves.

Arania sat on the bed next to him, reaching out to brush a lock of hair from his forehead. "Today has been...certainly like no other. When you all went out to fight Cassadar, I prayed for your lives. I never once worried about the town, or all the smallfolk." She sighed heavily, still largely numbed to the loss of life and devastation without.

"And why would you have?" he whispered, "Who could have guessed something like this was even possible?" His arm snaked around her. "Just like I didn't worry about you getting into a sword fight."

She let him pull her in, comforted by the closeness. "It seemed we fared better than most, swordfight and blood giants beside. Oh, I'm glad you're back."
