The destroyed city of Eddard's Rest. Parts of the capital were built on hills, and two of those still have buildings upright, but the rest of the sprawling city is now a flooded wasteland. Debris and flotsam and jetsam are everywhere, corpses are strewn across the streets and pulled into the lake, and the snows of winter gently fall on the scene.
A sight like it has not been seen in many years.

Crowl looks around the flooded wastes and wonders if anyone survived, He looks up towards the actual castle to see how that had faired agains't the wave.

The castle's lake-facing walls have collapsed, and many dead are in the courtyard, but it seems the fury of the wave spent itself on the wall, and the keep itself is intact.

"Good gods........" Benjen says, seeing the vast destruction. "Catherine... father!!!" He runs to the edge of the deck. "We need to get to the castle now!!"

Reyna winced. "How horrid, truly. It seems it was sheer chance that spared us. But does that mean the people inside the castle might have survived?" Arania silently thanked Catherine for inviting her out on the ride. Her eyes ran over the remains of the town, and the tall, strong walls of the keep. "It seems so." When they were within the courtyard, Arania dismounted, holding onto the reins of her horse and winding at the muddy ground that sucked at her shoes.

Jason let out a low whistle as he shook his head, looking around. "This is why you don't play with magic... No one should. One spell can kill a thousand people with just a single mistake." He walked over to the rail before tossing over one of the docking ropes and sliding down it, landing on the flooded ground with a splash.

Inside the ruined castle walls, a few guards, among them Captain Griffyn, notice the northern ladies. "My gods...are you all right!?" Catherine waves him off as she painfully dismounts.

Arania paused in her search of the ruins, her heart skipping a beat as she saw the large ship at the dock, tiny men moving about on the deck. "Look!" She pointed toward it, in case the other ladies hadn't noticed. Unfortunately they were too far for her to make out faces, but she shaded her eyes and squinted all the same, searching for Ben and Kalvin.

Crowl follows from the ship and starts to make his way up towards the keep, He is still carrying the corpse of Justin Mallister and has the Sword hilt to Heartsbane tucked under one arm.

Oriax, now recovered enough to stand on the deck of the ship, watched the grisly scene in silence. He had never seen the city of Eddard's rest at its prime, so the sight affected him less than the others, but he felt the death in the air. He flexed his fingers with a grimace, skin crackling with deep fissures. Worse to him was the loss of the book on the eastern shore. He would trade every soul in this city to bring that tome up from the depths, such was its potential.

Reyna was pale and shivering though not from cold. She stayed atop her horse and looked around for survivors.

Having jumped ship already, Jason doesn't notice the figures in the castle, but he quickly anchors the rope he used and heads towards the castle, running ahead of the others since he didn't hear the prince say otherwise.

Nyles stands next to him, chewing on a piece of dried beef. He offers a hunk to him. "It looked nicer before this. I rather liked the place. Clean brothels, low rates...aways work hunting down some outlaw or another."

The few survivors get off the ship and head to the castle. Kalvin and Crowl carry Ser Justin's body on a makeshift bier between them. They are cold and exhausted, and barely notice the ladies' presence at first.

Benjen carries Cassadar to the gates of the castle, before dumping him on the ground. He looks around, sees Catherine. "My love..."
