The lands outside Summerhall

The large force from the Reach arrives outside Summerhall. Lord Rycherd Tyrell, in full plate armor and astride a large black stallion, is at their head, his standard bearer riding just behind him. He is carrying a huge Tyrell standard of a gold rose on a green field which billows in the breeze.
Together with Lords Caswell and Oakheart and flanked by his standard bearer and the knights of his personal bodyguard, the Lord of Highgarden rides up to the gates of Summerhall. As a precaution, they halt just out of range of arrow shot.

Outside Summerhal are camped about five thousand men, clearly having just fought a battle not long ago. They are too exhausted to view the arrival of the Tyrell host wiht much more than a bit of confusion and suspicion. A man from the castle garrison invites the Reach lords inside.

The Tyrell host reinforced by some Warrior's Sons moves east. Lord Oakheart remains behind to command the four thousand Reachmen re-inforcements of Summerhall.

Scouts report that Footly's cavalry is camped south of the border at a larger than normal village. Supposedly it is shieling an infantry force of unknown strength to the south, nearer Blackhaven.

Rycherd received the scouts' reports and after a quick discussion with his lieutenants ordered his force towards where his scouts indicated that Lord Footly was located. The men are ordered into formation, as if battle was imminent, in case of a surprise attack by either cavalry or ambush by infantry or levies.
As they reached the outlying borders of what was considered to be the lands of Summerhall, Rycherd dispatched one of his mounted knights, equipped with a rainbow-striped flag with seven long tails, ahead of the force.
"Seek out Lord Footly. Tell him in the name of the Seven, the Lord of Highgarden seeks to parley." was the order.

The messenger returns the next day with a message to meet at the border, ten miles south.

Rycherd moves his force cautiously towards the arranged meeting place, scouts deployed and men in formation in case of treachery.

Lord Footly's men greet him at the border, and invite him and two dozen cavalry across to talk. From what he can see, they have fewer than five hundred men present in total. "The rest of our knights stayed to the south, Lord Tyrell. Getting cold out, after all," is the explanation. His scouts have seen no sign of the army farther north.

Rycherd turned to his lieutenants in amusement. He for one didn't believe Lord Footly's explanation.
"Tell Footly we'll meet halfway between our hosts, on the border, out of arrow range of both." he said to the Stormlanders.
As they rode off, Rycherd turned to Lord Caswell. "The remainder of Footly's men are around here somewhere. Double the amount of scouts to find them and keep the men in formation and on alert. I suspect Footly doesn't have the numbers we have, even if they have infantry, but he's going to try and even the odds."

"They may, my lord."
Lord Footly and a half dozen men ride out to what is close enough to the unmarked border that no one could really tell.

Rycherd did the same, taking an equal amount of his best men to show his good faith.
As they drew near to where the Stormlanders were waiting, Rycherd ordered a halt.
"Lord Footly." he said to a man carrying a black shield festooned with silver caltrops. "We have not met for some time."

Lord Footly is a handsome, somewhat fastidious young man, and he nods politely to the Lord of the Reach. "Indeed." He grins broadly and gestures behind Rycherd. "I had no idea you wanted me to meet so many of your friends."

"I thought you might want to reacquaint yourself with a few of your countrymen." replied Rycherd tartly.
With a wave of his arm he indicated his host.
"Reachmen these days do not serve your Red God. We protect and serve the worship of the Seven. I thought I'd bring these here so that you could know that."

"As though your marching a host without cause to protect those who would attack without provocation wasn't reminder enough. If those are the actions of the Reach, then I am glad that my ancestors saw fit to find a better master," he commented. "This isn't, and wasn't, your war. Peace has been declared between the belligerents."
