Lyonel gave orders to his outriders to capture one of the guards outside the castle and bring him to Lyonel for interrogation.

He gets a man after a time.

Lyonel had the man tied to a tree. "Now my good man." he said pleasantly. "Who in charge of that castle?"
He pointed in the direction of Summerhall to make it clear exactly what he meant.

"The High Septon's last remaining men," he said. "The true defenders of the Faith!"

So Dayne was yet to take the castle.
"Where are Frances Dayne's forces then?" he asked the prisoner. "Have they been here? If so, why hasn't he attacked Summerhall?"

"They came through about...ten days ago," he said. "Looking for someone. Arthur Martell, I think. Lord Frances thanked us and left."

Lyonel leaned in close to the prisoner.
"Looking for Arthur Martell." he said out loud to himself. "How many men did Frances Dayne look to have with him?" he asked.

"Five or six thousand," the man said. "Cavalry, most of them light. Rough sorts, too. I'd not want to run afoul of them."

Lyonel nodded. Too large a force to meet head on, but he could make life a little more difficult for them.
"And is there any indiction of which way they went from here? This Arthur Martell..as far as you know, he is on the run from them?"

"Oh yes," the man said. "He's the rightful prince of Dorne. The men went south towards Blackhaven."

They had passed wide of Blackhaven on their journey north-east from Nightsong. It appeared they would need to backtrack a little. Lyonel wondered exactly what dealings the High Septon and Dayne had made.
Lyonel drew his dagger. As the guard's eyes widened, he hesitated. The man had told them what they needed to know and he had no reason to disbelieve him. Secrecy was the key from here and dead men tell no tales. However he balked at the killing of the man in cold blood, even if he did serve the man who had incited the Reach rebellion and who possibly was now in league with the Daynes.
"Go back to the castle". he said, shoving the dagger back into his belt. "Tell your High Septon that Lyonel Vikary has spared your life this day. Tell him I deserve to be mentioned favorably in his prayers to the gods."

The guard nods. "Thank you, ser. I shall mention you myself."
