"From where I sit, it seems that you are the one threatening to starve children." Ghaston replied. "Though for their good I would be open to an exchange of hostages before battle is met."

"I'll take the woman and the children, and give you all the same whom my forces have captured from the Faithful. This passive aggressive talk of yours, as though you were not the attacker, it upsets me, Ser Ghaston. Speak as a knight, proud of your actions and talking man to man, or speak not at all. Though, were I someone with as little to be proud of as you, then yes, I can understand." Morrigen shrugs.

"Pride is an evil, Lord Morrigen, one which you will soon atone for. I am a humble defender of the faithful and your kind struck the first blow. So do not speak to me of what it means to be a knight! Perhaps your ancestors once knew what that meant when they were anointed with the seven holy oils and stood vigil. They would roll in their crypts if they knew their successor turned to a fire demon instead."
"I want my knights returned, Lord Morrigen, in exchange for those knights captured in the taking of Blackhaven and Dondarrion's children."

"The Red God's power isn't so vast as that displayed at Mason Keep, Ser Ghaston, think clearly. If we had men who could do that...we wouldn't be having this discussion, now, we would be rolling over your army with a host of the walking dead. We aren't, and so it stands to reason someone is setting us all up, as they did the Ironborn." He shrugs. "I will trade you a half dozen knights for the children. We both know the knights of Blackhaven are in this host behind me."

Ser Almaric hadn't known about his later brother's commission of the Eagle and his face twisted in outrage at the accusation, but he said nothing knowing that any Dornishman was capable of murder by poison. It was not nearly so stigmatized in Dorne, as in the lands north of the mountains.
"Are you quite sure the rest of Dorne is not behind us, Lord Morrigen?" he asked. "I imagine that you heard Lord Dayne's heir wed my niece three moons past. Starfall is well aware of our position and numbers, and yours as well. As we speak, his host is likely passing through Yronwood and into the Stone Way. If you mean to besiege us here, I think it will be a rather shorter siege than you imagine."

Baxter chuckles. "Lord Bryce is still furious over the death of his son. If he's not here already, he's not coming. And anyway, with your sad attempt at a fortification, I see little need for this to become a siege. With the fortifications split between Ser Ghaston's rather impressive ones, and your shoddy little trench, if I strike your forces, Ser Ghaston can either watch us slaughter you until sunset, or sally forth and negate his posture. Either way, I care little enough."

"At which point it will become a test of our armies unified under a single cause and yours made up of some men that no doubt struggle internally between loyalty to their gods and loyalty to their king. Which force do you think will break first, Lord Baxter?" Ghaston asked poignantly.
"All I know is that only your demon worshippers are capable of sorcery and worshippers of the Seven are not. I have heard tales of priests of the Red God bringing the dead back to life before, so do not claim none of your kind hold such power. If you still claim innocence, name the true culprits and they will be brought to justice. Otherwise, it will be battle this day."

"Would that I could, Ser Ghaston," he said sadly. "And while our men of the faith may have difficulty deciding between the Seven and Rh'lorr, they shall never accept the Faith betraying them by letting the Dornish possess the key to the kingdom." The Kingslanders ride off.

Ser Ghaston rides back to his own lines to prepare for battle. Some time later the women and children of Blackhaven are escorted to safety. Lord Robert and his surviving troops remain hostages.

The First Day:
The Stormlands host sets up southeast of the Blackhaven hosts, facing the naturally weakest part of the fortifications. The day after their arrival, they assemble in their massive ranks to offer battle. They assault into the weaker Dornish fortifications, seeking to draw the Faithful from their fortress to battle.
Round 1:
Baxter (+50): 119/196 Waymar: 142 Raymund: 140 Naran: 151
Ser Almaric (leading from rear) (+20): 166/179 Harryld: 172
Ser Ghaston (+25): 109/133 Ser Myles: 145 Ser Silar: 178
Event: High roller from both armies fights
The Dornish are ready, and in the opening stages of their battle, their long spears manage to create a standoff with the Stormlanders, even with Lord Baxter's considerable tactical abilities. Seeing an impasse threatening, he sends his right flank hard into the Faithful fortifications, utterly determined to create a hole in the line somewhere, ideally forming a wedge between the rivals armies that they may be defeated in detail. An unnoticed tactical flaw in the Faith's works enables his men to be screened from arrow fire while doing their assault, and even with the advantage of the defense they inflict tremendous losses on the second army.
Stormlands: 10650, cavalry not engaged Faith: 6200 Dorne: 5150

Lord Naran Rykker VS Ser Silar of Honeyholt
Round 1:
Rykker: 155 (-5) Silar: 176
Ser Sylar jumps on the attack on his rival from the Red God's area, curring him sharply across the cheek. Lord Naran grunts and continues on, undaunted.
Round 2:
Naran: 170 Sylar: 109 (-30)
Naran is faster than the Faith knight, and quickly his massive blade finds a gap in defenses, breaking two of the man's ribs with a stroke that hits so hard two nearby men get low level tinnitus from it.
Round 3:
Naran: 150 Sylar: 99 (-50)
Naran's offensive continues unrelenting, as he hacks a tow off the man's right foot.
Round 4:
Naran: 122 Sylar: 87 (-60)
Round 5:
Naran: 159 Sylar: 115 (-75)
Naran finishes the brave knight off.

Round 2:
Baxter: 110/234 Waymar: 95 Rymund: 183 Naran (-5): 165
Ser Almaric: 129/99 Harryld: 176
Ser Ghaston: 178/171 Myles: 112
The battle turns crushingly in favor of the Stormlanders, as some of the recently raised and hastily trained Dornish Yronwood recruits suddenly break before the veteran Morrigen infantry, leaving an enormous and irrecoverable hole in their lines. Ser Ghaston fights as a man possessed, slaying two of the red god's followers, but his line buckles and is pushed back as well. There is now a clear wedge between the forces.
Stormlands: 10100 Dorne: 4400 Faith: 5500
