Ser Ghaston orders five hundred of his force to garrison Blackhaven and guard the prisoners. The rest are ordered to man the northern siege line fortifications and turn the magonels outward against the approaching foe. A rider is also sent out to inform Lord Morrigen of Blackhaven's fall and offer parlay before battle is met.

Lord Baxter's host arrives, in a neat line, many thousands strong. Ser Raymund Dondarrion and Lord Naran Rykker are with him, as well as many other famed names of the Stormlands and Crownland regions. An open field outside Blackhaven is decided as a suitable location for a parlay. Lord Robert's son and heir is also present.

Ser Ghaston rides up, once more flanked by Ser Silar of Honeyholt holding the banner of the Seven and Ser Myles the Everprayer holding the white flag of parlay.
His host is arrayed far behind him, making good use of the defensive fortifications erected days past, magonels and ballistas turned outward against their new foe.

Lord Baxter is chewing on some seeds, and spitting them out one by one as he approaches. "Ser Ghaston. Sorry to have showed up late to the festivities. I had some unexpected guests who had to be entertained." Lord Naran Rykker looks over the fortifications from his spot, and Ser Raymund and Richard Dondarrion just look angry.

Ser Almaric Yronwood rides beside Ser Ghaston, with a pair of his knights holding the banners of Yronwood and Dorne. "That happens sometimes," he replied laconically, eyeing Raymund Dondarrion. One could sense the waves of hatred rolling off him as he glared across the lines.

Raymund smiles evilly at him, and wipes his face with a rag apparently made from a fallen Yronwood man's tunic...maybe even its lord's.

"I am sure you were a gracious host, Lord Baxter." Ghaston replied easily, comfortable in his position. "As I've been to Lord Robert, his family, and his men."

"I feel Lord Robert and his family may disagree. Being a guest in your ancestral home is hardly a cause for much...graciousness, I feel. You will know the feeling, soon enough, though." Lord Baxter shrugs. "I confess I am disappointed in you. The Faith had ever been the voice of reason, before whoring themselves out for the late lord Yronwood's greed and boundless ambition." He chuckled. "Surely you can see the Seven judged his actions and motives, and found him...wanting."

"When faced with great evil, even reasonable men must take up the sword." Ghaston replied with conviction. "The dark rituals performed for your demon god profane these lands. It is my holy duty to drive the stain from these shores, as my order did in times of old."
"Lord Yronwood was a devout man of the Seven and one I was proud to serve beside. If his death is a testament to anything, it is that even the Seven cannot prevail when good men sit by and do nothing." he said, critical eyes falling on Baratheon and Connington.

ooc: Lord Baratheon isn't there; he's too old to consistently take the field.
"No one would accuse your zealots of being reasonable, so spare your excuses," Baxter says. "You saw an opportunity to start your little holy war and you seized it with a smile. His death is a testament that all men are judged by their deeds. Why else do you think he didn't see fit to inform any of the other lords of Dorne of his plans? Because he knew that his goals were motivated by pure vengeance and self interest.
Now, I expect this foolishness from the Dornish. I expected better from you, as did every good Kingslander. But, I am not a man to make a mistake twice. Your order should have never been allowed to rebuild. When Lord Footly is done with Summerhall..it never will."

"And Kings Landing should never have been allowed to fall into the hands of heretics, but it seems neither of us is happy with how history preceded." Ghaston replied, apparently unperturbed by the threat to Summerhall.
"I recommend you quit the field while you can, Lord Baxter, else you will lose your army. It takes no military genius to see that we hold a superior defensive position and a keep to fall back to if necessary. Even if we fall, I swear your army will be broken with us. The Goldlands and Dorne will answer the call to arms and the Kingslands will be wiped from these lands, even if Summerhall is taken and my order slain to a man. We may die, but the Seven shall prevail! My men will fight and die to the last. Can you say the same for your own?"

50 + 50=100
"Perhaps the Reach," Lord Baxter allowed, "but King Kyle's hand will stay light; else he risks losing everything to the North. And after two months of siege, and with ten thousand mouths to feed...how long do you plan on hiding? Summerhall's supply lines are shut quite tightly, and Lord Footly writes its garrison is pathetic. The new Lord Yronwood will have much more important things to worry about shortly than his idiot father's feud, such as dealing with the Vulture. And," he concludes, "his assassin who attempted to slay Ser Raymund was caught and dealt with at Grandview, Lord Oberyn's coin clinking in his purse. He proved an adept slayer of innocent women like Jynessa Caron, but a few weeks of our hospitality got him talking plenty. Not that there were many suspects; a knight is poisoned with blindroot and two weeks later his lord's lands are attacked? Subtlety I expect from such a 'man'" -he spits the word-, "as the Late Lord Oberyn."

Ghaston passed a brief glance to Almaric, not having known of the poisoning attempt. That was not honorable conduct befitting a knight and he would have had no part in it.
"King Kyle believes your kind responsible for the death of his kin at Masonton, as do I." Ghaston accused. "He will answer the call, as will any true sons of the Seven. Especially, after your desecration of the Great Sept of Baelor. You stand with the might of the Faith stacked against you and will be left wanting. Whether I live or die this day, your kind will be driven into the sea."
"Remember, Lord Baxter, I still have hostages. My men are accustomed to fasting for their faith...more so than Lord Dondarrion, his wife, and his children. If that will not weigh on your conscience, then you have only proven the moral failings that accompany paying homage to a demon."

"Any man who says he has faith and starves children, he is a man who has let a blindness for power overshadow any god he claims to serve. I have taken my vows seriously since I was a boy. You have turned far from your principles, threatening children." He wheels his horse about.
"And the Dornish lines do not have half your strength."
