The Lord of Winterfell is in the yard rather than the hall, as Lord Royce usually holds court. He is watching the children of the city play a game of handball as Benjen approaches. He does his customary half bow to his liege and moves his fingers to loosen them up. "Took ole Frances's head off yourself, Your Grace? I knew you had it in you."

The Dornish contingent arrives, led by Meera, visiting for the first time in two years. Volantis has sent almost two hundred people, while Braavos has sent nearly as many, and the other Free Cities collectively total one hundred or so individuals.

Elissa strode into the great hall and looked about her with interest. As a woman of the Goldlands, she was curious about the customs of the Northerners and had in fact been expecting something a little different to the great halls she was accustomed to. She soon grabbed a goblet of mead and looked for someone interesting to talk to.

Arthur Tyrell entered the Hall, looking around with interest. His wife and children were tired from the long journey and had remained in their apartments to rest before the festivities began. However the twenty year old Lord of Brightwater Keep, now the veteran of several campaigns including that against Oriax, as well as Myr and the Stormlands had been eager to explore Eddard's Rest and meet or re-acquaint himself with some of the other guests. What better place to start than the Great Hall?

Arthur noted that there weren't many Goldlanders around, but he did note a striking looking woman with dark hair who by her speech when she spoke to a servant and her dress appeared to be from the Goldlands.
He walked up and introduced himself. "Arthur Tyrell. You look and sound you're not from around here." he said in a lighthearted tone.

Elissa raised an eyebrow.
"Well met, Lord Tyrell. Your name carries some renown. My name is Elissa Costayne, also known as Lady Rowan of Goldengrove. I come here as representative of both houses.."

"Indeed. Renown? Is that to do with my first name or my last name?" asked Arthur with a grin. "I hope people will remember me rather than what necessarily my family have done or not done." He gave a short chuckle.
"Lady Rowan. I have heard of you. The rumor is you like to sail, you captain ships. Would that be right?"

"I do. The Black Rose is my own vessel. Shes' a sweet craft." She smiled with genuine warmth. "I've four other vessels at my command. I'm more at home at sea than in court, but duty calls. And what of you, my lord. Do you care for sailing?"

"I have been on the water when I crossed the Narrow Sea to fight at Myr, but I did not care for it." Arthur replied with a rueful smile. "No doubt if I had your experience on a ship, it would make a difference to my enjoyment of such a pastime.
He studied her for a moment. "Five vessels at your command. I'm sure the Queen would be keen to make some use of your talents and resources."

"I am sure Her Grace intends to do so, but she has not yet confided in me." She paused. "You really ought to give the sea another chance, my lord. She can be a cruel mistress, but the joy of the open ocean cannot be denied. One day I hope I will be able to see many strange and wonderful things. That's very hard to do if you travel only to the places that are somewhat familiar."

Arthur laughed. "Perhaps my lady. I can see many strange and wonderful things by braving the Narrow Sea and crossing to Essos." His smile faded as he recalled the battle against Oriax in the North. "There are many strange and wonderful things beyond The Wall also. I have seen some of them."

She frowned. "Forgive me, but I cannot imagine why any man would wish to go Beyond the Wall. The Wall is there for a damned good reason, if you'll pardon my Ghiscari. Though perhaps you'll be kind enough to elaborate on the strange things you have seen there."
