"Why beyond the Wall? So they don't have to cross the sea?" suggested Arthur lightheartedly with another laugh. "When you fight a sorcerer such as Oriax and his undead you see strange things. Dragons, wights, giants just to name a few."

"I see. All of those are worthy opponents, but what of the cold? A man cannot fight the terrible cold beyond the Wall. Was it not strange and unpleasant to you, a man born in the south?"

"Yes. admitted Arthur. He smiled. The cold and I are not good friends"
"But the sea is vast and cold as well and has beasts in it that by all tales rival some of the beasts that live beyond the Wall."

"I suppose so, but I've been lucky enough not to have too many dealings with such creatures. There was a nasty incident with a kraken once, but we survived." Sh thought for a moment. "So you prefer the land. What will you do when you have explored all of Westeros and there is no land left?"

"I shall most likely be dead and with the Gods." he said smiling. "Westeros is a large place."
He gave another laugh.
"Do not get me wrong my lady. There are times when I know I will need to go to sea, but I cannot say I want to make a career out of it. As I said I have crossed the Narrow Sea to Myr to fight Frances Dayne. Essos is even larger than Westeros by all accounts and I have read of some of the wonders that exist further east of Myr. Perhaps if the Gods are willing, I may one day see them for myself."
He studied her intently for a very short moment. "Perhaps it will even be you that takes me."

She grinned. "It might, if you're willing to pay for passage. My crew won't work for words, after all. We shall see, it may be that the queen has a greater need for my services and duty comes before exploration."

Arthur grinned back. I'll try and scrape together the gold you might charge for passage. Maybe it'd be cheaper to buy one of your ships." He shrugged carelessly, still smiling.
"Either way I could probably afford it."

"Only if I chose to sell," she replied, still grinning. "Think about it for a while. If the queen can spare one of my ships when you are ready, you may borrow one of them. For a price, of course." Her grin widened. "I'm sure those terms would be acceptable to you."

Arthur laughed again. "I'm sure we can negotiate a suitable price." he said, deftly taking a jug of wine borne by a passing servant and pouring himself a cup.
"A cup of wine my lady? Perhaps we might begin the haggling now."

"Are you sure you want to haggle over a cup of wine?" She teased. "I promise you, I'm no stranger to strong drink. I stick by what I said, I'm disinclined to loan out my ships for some unspecified period in the future. You really ought to ask me again when the time comes."

Arthur chuckled. "I am no merchant to haggle over the price of everything my lady. Still it might be amusing to pass the time until the festivities begin." He scanned the hall which was relatively empty with a slight air of disappointment.

She smiled. "You haggle when you are bored? That is a curious trait, particularly in a nobleman. But you're right, I thought there would be more people here."

"I gamble, ride, hunt and joust when I am bored." he replied. He looked around. "There are no gambling tables here, the jousting has not begun. I'm unaware of any hunting party leaving." He grinned. "So why not discuss terms.......or indeed any other topic that takes your fancy in the meantime."

"I meant what I said. I'm not committing my ships to a venture at an unspecified time. Besides, I dislike talking business during a celebration. I'll have that cup of wine now though. I fear I'll have to participate in a lot of small talk before this night is done, so I'll need to fortify myself beforehand."
She smiled. "I promise not to vomit on your shoes."

Arthur grinned filled a cup with wine and then passed her the cup. "Arbor Red. Very good. I commend our host's taste."
He took another draught before setting his cup down. "So if we suspend our negotiations for the moment what shall we talk about my lady? The perfidy of the Ironborn? The demise of the Baratheons?" He glanced around the Hall. "The choice of color for the decorations?""
