A month after the northerners arrive, King Sirius asks the prince and princess to a brunch, saying there is important news to share with them. Rumors have been buzzing about the city of a great fleet of ships from the mysterious lands of Yi Ti, crushing all in their path as they surge west, and worry rises as food grows short and gold even shorter.

Benjen arrives at the brunch dressed in a thin shift, still not having quite acclimatized to the horrible heat of Slaver's Bay. He greeted the king with a nod and a smile before seating himself.

Robyn had rather more luck getting used to the heat of Mereen after finding clothes made of more suitable material, and by that, she meant she no longer wished to die. She'd even got a little bit tanned, after burning and peeling a few times, which was a horrific experience.
She arrived to the brunch, wearing loose light blue clothing, with baggy legs, to let whatever breeze there may be cjrculate better.
She cutseyed to the king, smiled and nodded to benjen and sat next to her brother.

Sirius slides a letter to them. "Vhagus wants peace," he said after a moment, clearly unsettled. "The soldiers of the east are overwhelming his forces, and they claim to wish the whole of Slaver's Bay." He frowns and looks to Benjen. "I am inclined to accept, if this is suitable to my newest and dearest allies."

"Vhagus wants peace..." Benjen repeated to himself, looking down at the letter. "What is this army to the east anyhow? I've been hearing things but there has been no real news."

"It should really depend on what he wants... or rather, is willing to give up on, that is really the important thing" Robyn said, glancing at the letter. peaces needed terms after all.

Sirius nods. "Yi Ti has always been largely closed to outsiders, but these last four years they have been flexing their muscles in all directions. Spies claim they have some odd earth based magic that is focused through their green jade statues, but more importantly they can muster and feed almost a million men. They have made no claims as to their goal beyond our conquest as of now, and none of my envoys have returned." He looks to the letter. "Vhagus offers to open up the roads to the farmlands and essentially...end the wat, at least for now," he grunted. "If these foreigners weren't so damned aggressive I'd dismiss it out of hand..." He shakes his head. "He also claims as a gesture of good will he will convince Pentos to pull back its aggression in the Narrow Sea. All he claims he needs are Rhaegys and forty thousand men to hold Qarth."

"Only forty thousand," Robyn repeated, "have you considered this being a trap? The army may be undefeatsble with one dragon, but with two... Perhaps he only means to get rhaegys there?" She asked, she had no reason to think vhagus was not a man of his word, except that he was an obvious villain.
"If you think he is genuine in his request, peace only lasts as long as both parties want it, treaty or not, it doesn't sound as if there is anything binding it, so it really is just fixing a problem of yours short term, can you refuse?"

"He values nothing, so marriage won't work, and anyway we have no one to send him. I do not abide the...practices of my ancestors," Sirius said. "I suspect my sister or I using Rhaegys with Drogon is his goal. Forty thousand can hold Qarth but never pray to advance." He shook his head. "As I said, I am inclined to accept for now, until his sudden yet inevitable betrayal. But I believe Lord Bryce and those awful ironborn have ruined Westeros's ability to provide assistance beyond the food we are so grateful for, and of course it's finest general for a time," he inclines his head to Benjen. "And of course the archer I have heard songs of," he chuckled kindly at Robyn.

"Pentos is all well and good, but the Ironborn are the biggest threat to our seas." Robyn said, "But if he means peace for all of us, and not just between you and he, then I think that can only be good. even if it is just short term, it gives us extra time."

"He will inform the Ironborn he is at peace, thought from what I hear of them...whether they care is another story," Sirius admits. "But even losing Pentos's threat is a measure of stability." He taps his fingers. "I am glad you understand the seriousness of all of our positions. I assure you, this alliance does not warm me to the Iron men, the Pentosi, or my half brother one bit. They have a litany of crimes to answer for, and justice delayed does not mean justice denied."

"it was good of you to consult us, even if you don't have any grounds to logically refuse the terms" Robyn said, with a smile, looking at the King's tapping fingers, "We have to do what is best for us at the time, sometimes helping an enemy is all we can do for the time being. I had to make a decision like that in Pentos before. As allies we have a duty to do what is best for one another, if you're people are wiped out or starved, just from a practical point of view, that does little for us."

"I don't like seeing it but accepting the peace seems to be the only logical option," Benjen responded. "But as they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. With peace between yourself and Vhagus we can try and get closer to him, find out potential weaknesses and perhaps even... well, that doesn't matter now."
He wiped some sweat from his forehead and nodded. "As for the Ironborn, if they continue to do as they wish then even their friendship with Vhagus won't save them. As for the man himself, I would like to meet him finally. In person."
