"the really mad ones likely think it is the gods, and the sane ones think it madness" Robyn replied, turning and dipping her feet in the water, her toes barely touching it in fact, a person of... regular height would likely have their whole foot in. "I'd not presume I am entirely sound of mind though, I sis once say I would marry you, hardly a sensible suggestion"

"Being hasty is not a sign of madness." Vhagus looked at her foot. "I take it you found someone more suitable then? Less...villainous?" He laughed.

"It's not the haste that made it mad" She replied looking over at the sunset once more. " Not, not yet, I am taking my time, other than naomi I am the only unmarried princess in Westeros now... so there is that going for me, I do not think I will be short of people wanting to marry me."
she paused for a second, and grinned, "How about you? Get over the pain of me never getting back to you about my offer in time to get married? Or too bust being more... villainous?"

"There are the Martell sisters," vhagus said. "But no competition for you. Surely you have real suitors worthy of you. And I have not decided if I will marry," he said. "Been busy mooning over my broken heart and getting outvillained. No burned cities for me lately. Just more conflict and rebuilding family ties," he chuckled.

"Not that I want to encourage villainy, but Bryce Dayne seemed a lot more villainous to me. Just saying" Robyn said and laughed softly. "Family is important, you don't really appreciate them until they're not around you any more, and I have suitors... plenty, I just have no drive to choose between them right now, like I said, I am in no rush."
She paused for a second, "So... who roughed you up? That cut looks nasty"

Vhagus waved it off. "A scratch. The inventive little bastards have some new tricks. Repeating crossbows. Chu Ko Nus, they call them. They had their shot at me, and they failed," he said. "Bryce was a monster in monster's skin. My friend Cassadar became the same. Your dear brother Nick's mother could give them all a run for it. All dead now." He sighed. "Two of us left now. I should send a letter."
He looked back to her. "you will want to listen to your dreams," he said in a daze, relaxing. "You were born with magic. Most of us had to sacrifice...everything to get it."

"Send a letter to Nick?" Robyn asked, "I'm sure he'd love to hear from you,"
She thought about what he said, about listening to the dreams, but also remembered him saying that people like vhagus and Oriax could send people fake dreams, so now he knew she'd have to be more careful.
"Was it worth it? Sacrificing everything?" She asked him, pretty sure what the answer would be.

"Janelle Reed," he said distantly. "Callen and I don't need letters to speak," he finished. "If he wishes to, anyway." He was silent a long moment before he spoke again. "I had nothing, so giving it up was easy. Never had real feelings or possessions or hope. Just saw what is, and decided to make it mine. All of it," he said. "That dream will never end."

"Why? If you haven't got real feelings or anything like that, why are you doing what it is your are doing? It seems a terrible amount of trouble to go to... just for something to do." Robyn said shaking her head, "though I must say, you're not filling me with confidence o how long this peace is going to last."
"Who is Janelle Reed? She sounds like someone I should know... being a Reed"

Vhagus summons a slav...servant and gets a glass of wine. He drains it, then dips it into the cold waters. As he brings it back to his lips, the fluid is red again, like it had been turned to wine. "Ambition gives me purpose, provides any sexual desires I have, allows adrenaline to pump through my veins. That is all I feel," he said. "The peace will last until Yi Ti is crushed and for a time after. I do not betray my word. I do not need to resort to sad tricks to overcome my rivals. When we are enemies again, your brother will be plenty forewarned." At the last question he sighs. "She was the only one of us in Sothoryos to banish her demon outright, rather than attempt to slay it or accept its power. She has been rather...upset ever since the results of that sad little venture."
He looks at her. "What about you, then? What makes your...heart swell? Family? I think maybe a little, but you have the wanderer's heart like I did. You need the unknown to feel alive."

"fortunately for me, there is an almost inexhaustible amount of unknown... of adventure." she replied to his last question, as well as it seemed answering.
"That's a cute trick" Robyn replied with a smile as he turned the water into wine... well, she presumed it was wine. "A bit disgusting, but cute. In order to break peace, though, one of your must break your word, it's not like there is a time limit you put on it. "
"Why has she been upset?" She asked, raising an eyebrow, she supposed it was obvious really."Does she have powers like you?"

"We betrayed her, basically," Vhagus said. "Albeit accidentally. It took me months to conquer my demons and in the interim I did some...monstrous things. Beyond anything I have done lately in cruelty if not scale. I had thought her long dead, but I am...glad to hear she is alive. She was the best of our band." He offers her a sip. "More than a cute trick, I assure you."
"An inexhaustible supply of the unknown, capped by a society which demands you sit down and produce children. Caging a bird, clipping its wings," he chuckled. "Words are broken all the time. By all of us. Deceit is our coin, Robyn. Have you never lied to get what you needed?"

"You're trying to get me to drink your bath water?" she asked, but was smiling, and reached her hand out to it, leaning precariously over the water, but being super coordinated and balanced she took it just fine, no falling in.
"Sounds like she'll have a grudge against you, perhaps I should go and make friends with her?" she suggested, taking a sip of the wine... presumed wine.
"I am fortunate that while society may demand that of me, I do not care enough about what it thinks to let it cage me like that. if i marry, it will not be because society expects it"

The wine tastes excellent. "Make friends with who you please," he said airily. "I rather liked her back in the day. I like her more now, that she is not intimidated by how powerful I have grown." He nods. "Good. Society is a lie people tell themselve sin a vain attempt to make others fond of them. We are animals inside. We should live how our natures tell us to."

"She sounds great" Robyn said, passing his wine back to him, "I think people need society, most people, need rules and ways to live their lives, they need to know where they belong, what their place is, do their jobs, lead their mundane same old day lives. Can you imagine how the world would be if everyone just did as they pleased? Nothing would get done, ridiculously over sized pyramids do not built themselves... though you could probably make them... but that's cheating really."
