A source of gold and ivory for centureies, Sothoryos remains unmapped and brutal.

The corsair stops at a small island, only a few large rocks, really, getting off the vessel for a small flat bellied beast. Cedric looks to the bear coastline of the jungles now, and the Ironborn see a massive reef under the water. "Can't sail through it." He said.

Killion had spent most of the journey near the railing of the ship, the thrill of new waters he had not yet sailed and had not likely been sailed by any Ironborn before.
"Convenient." he replied, looking upon the coral reef, a memory coming to him that darkened his features for a moment. "A proper army would have to disembark and march inland, which I suppose is what you count on."

"A proper army would be feasted on by sharks in these reefs," he said. "And we've seen proper kraken in the drop off." He shrugs as the boat is rowed. "I wish an invader luck." They row up the delta into an utterly confusing mass of swamp. "Eat these lemons. They keep the worst of the insects away."

Killion did as instructed, cutting the lemon into wedges with the knife at his belt and distributing amongst his captains. He winced slightly as he bit into the tart wedge, but supposed this was better than the plagues carried by the insects in these parts. As the flat-bottomed boat rowed upriver into foreboding lands that would have made Joseph Conrad piss his breeches, the prince could not help being excited.
He looked around to see which members of the Order were accompanying them.

Cedric, a short greasy man named Zayn, who runs the basilisk pets of the Order, and the aloof Eliza Satarys are on the trip. Lord Sunglass had the corsair and is waiting for their return. The River delta has crocodiles thirty feet long, and the barking of monkeys is incessant. After a few hours of paddling, they come to a small base camp. "Fresh fruit and grilled monkey for dinner," the Dornishman announces. "Better than it sounds."

Lord Drumm was present and being unusually quiet. He pulled a face at the idea of eating monkey though.

They enter the camp, which is built under the thick tree canopy, and Cedric takes a grilled monkey on a stick and takes a bite. "It isn't that bad," he says cheerfully, "and a damn sight better than the other creatures here."

Not a squeamish eater, Killion bit ravenously into his grilled monkey skewer. The meat was a bit stringy and greasy, but a hot meal was a hot meal.
"How much further?" he asked, between mouthfuls.

"Two days upriver," Cedric said. "The current is a bitch but it is preferable to the land route. You don't' want the land route." Pretty and exotic girls serve the food and speak in a dreamlike language.

"Speaking from experience I take it?" he smirked, pulling one of the serving girls onto his lap with a smirk. "So when do things get...interesting? I must admit, thusfar other than a few bugs it has been quite pleasant. Perhaps I'll build a vacation home on the coast."

"We have ways of making the wildlife averse to our presence," he answered. "Before that we lost four or five people a day to the gorillas and the raptors and the swamp wyverns." He drank an ale. "The same tricks don't work on the ghouls, sadly. Or the tribesmen whom they hunt."

"Ghouls?" he asked, unsure he had heard the term before in the rambling of adventurers who had claimed up have visited the cursed continent. "Well, you lot are resourceful at least."

"Cannibals, I guess is the better term. Striped men of great size and strength. They have great stew pots they put their prisoners in to cook." He shudders. "If they take your men it is best to consider them already dead. We theorize they were the original inhabitants of the dead cities that dot this continent."

"A whole continent of Crowls..." Killion mused, shaking that terrifying prospect from his mind, before turning to Drumm, Cleftjaw, and Blackwall. "None of you get ate. That's an order."
