So my only serious complaint about the finale is that the Dorne plot remains the most poorly handled aspect of the season and...
Yeah, I kind of liked it. I really wanted Stannis to have a more epic sendoff, but this ending was still quite thematic and appropriate.
I wanted Varys to pop up in KL, but him being just offscreen the entire time in Meereen is also just like him. Tyrion running Meereen sounds like it could be fun.
I think the Benjen twist was clever, and better handled than the book's take.
Still have issues with the season, but otherwise... not a bad finale.

I'm actually debating whether or not Stannis is dead. It was a fitting end to his story but at the same time I think the book's "If you don't see a body, they're not dead" rule might apply. The lack of Roose in any of the Winterfell scenes bothered me as well. I was kind of hoping he'd get the deathblow on Stannis rather than the cliche Brienne kill so he could have two kings under his belt.
The Myrcella death was a bit ham-fisted and obvious a mile away. My issue with the Dorne plot is that it made Doran into the pussy that everyone in the books think he is, rather than a man playing a very long revenge game.
The KL scene was well done, though I'm not sure why Lena Heady opted for a body double when she's been naked more times than I can count in films. It makes me curious what's going on behind the scenes. The pacing was a bit off in this episode as well. Did we really need Cersei's scene to be that long? Think a lot of that time could have been better spent at Winterfell.
Other than those gripes, I enjoyed it, though would also have liked to see Varys pop up and off Pycelle and Kevan at the end. Knew they'd end with the Jon "death" for shock value though and I think now that they forced Mellisandre back to the Wall his resurrection is a forgone conclusion. Though after her "fair weather fan" move she's now the character I'm hoping dies badly the most.

Someone made a prediction I want to come true in the show, just because it matches how i'm feeling right now towards it.
"Jon is dead. R + L will be exposed next season, and we will posthumously learn that he was The Prince That Was Promised. The Others overrun the Wall and there is no "hero" (if you can call the first AA that, after he brutally murdered his wife) to stop them there this time.
It's a good tragedy where we learn the identity of the hero only after it's already too late. Very GRRM..."
Also, unless they get some king's blood I don't see how Melisandre is gonna resurrect Jon. She can't do any powerful spells without said blood and sacrifice. Maybe we just have to hope Thoros stumbles in from out of nowhere to sacrifice Beric's life for Jon's. Completely skip over the Lady Stoneheart arc like they did the Greyjoy, Cold Hands, and Dorne arcs.
Or we'll get theon to do it. I don't really care at this point.

1. Stannis death scene was off. He's simply too major a character to kill in that way imo. His "final" words to Brienne was to do her duty. Considering all her inner conflicting oaths and such, I suppose this might trigger something? The whole Battle of Winterfell was... lackluster. 2. Shitty Dorne is shitty. 3. Jon's eyes change colour as it zooms. Red? Ghost?

I have mixed feelings about the episode. I didn't hate it and I seriously thought I would, but there are still a lot of things I disliked. First off, the things I did like.
-Myranda's death was so perfect. I'm glad Theon got to do it.
-Dany struggling with Drogon. I really laughed at that, but I do wish the scene had been a bit longer before the Dothraki found her. Though the sheer scale of the Dothraki horde was shown well.
-The Meeereen council. That really worked for me.
-Cersei's confession and the horror of the walk, though I do think they could have shown her distress earlier.
-Robert Strong
-Arya's scene with Meryn and the follow up with "Jaqen" and the faces. I've been bored by Arya for 9 weeks so it was great to see an Arya scene I actually enjoyed -Sam finally leaving for Oldtown!
The things I disliked:
-The pretext for cornering Jon was so flimsy. I think they focused too much on the men who didn't like Jon after his election, which is exactly what happened with Robb and his troublesome bannerlords. Jon really needed some support around, just as Robb ought to have had the Mormonts and Umbers, in order to make the betrayal more potent and shocking.
-Jaime's conversation with Myrcella just felt so unrealistic.
-Ellaria poisoning Myrcella was ridiculously obvious. I half-hoped Ellaria would die as a result.
-The Battle of Winterfell. In spite of the Shireen fiasco from last week, I still hoped Stannis would win becauase he's a better bet than the Boltons. I don't like the way they handled that.
-The Brienne/Stannis confrontation was so cliche.

I'm not sure I'll even bother with series 6 since I liked so little of this series. Even a great casting for Euron may not be enough for me

Leonor, I suspect season 6 will be seeing Sansa take the role of the angry Northmen because now they have someone to rally around. I thought the episode hit most of its cylinders, but the Dorne stuff should have been saved for 6 and they could have built out the north more. With no more wall POVs save maybe Davos and Stannis dead I can see a lot of episode free time finally.

Looking good, snow. Also, in fairness... the books are bad. I think i will GOT until the end, no matter how much I think it is weird... or how much it spoils the books.
