The fleet of Uhtred Farwynd sails to the waters of Yunkai along with its merchant escort, there to serve as troop transports for the Targaryen prince's expedition to the lands of the Ghiscari. Along with him comes Harwyn Goodbrother and the Ibbenese man Graug.

Uhtred's fleet has good weather sailing east, though the trip is long. At long last he sees the massive entrance to Yunkai's port in the distance. Hundreds of ships are moving in and out. More than anyone in the fleets have ever seen. More even than pass through Braavos on a daily basis.

Uhtreds eyes narrow as he takes it in, but he gives the order to dock as they usually do at civilian ports with the ships spreading out and coming in over a hours time. "This isn't usual for Yunkai," he remarks "somethings going on. Maybe the expedition? But you don't need this many ships for 8000 men. We'll see I suppose"

That is Yunkai on a busy but unremarkable day. The empires' ar against the Ghiscari sends ships from thousands of cities to its ports, unloading steel and food in exchange for gold and spice and slaves. Uhtred sails into the port and sees the massive piers, extending miles out to sea. King's Landing could fit inside the harbor district alone. Lannisport would be half consumed by the slave bazaar. White Harbor could not fit all the forges and smithies in it.

The ships pull up to dock relatively close together, the massive docks giving ample room even with the tens of thousands that are working there. Now it was time to seek a audience with the prince if he can, going ashore with a small escort of men. The timing could've been better, but they were here.

They are met by a hideously scarred man, burned almost beyond looking human. He nods to them. "Prince Aenys is expecting you."

The lesson here was obvious, and Uhtred almost hesitates before following. It seems like constant reminders of who was in true control here would be prevalent.

The burned man takes them to the massive estates to the north of the city, where he stops at a gate. It opens and Prince Aenys walks out. "I hope your time has gone well, Lord Uhtred. I heard you had quite the battle. Only that you had a fleet, but given that you're here, I suspect it went your way."

Uhtred bows slightly "you surmise correctly your highness. Lord Entel the defiant has been slain, and he will trouble innocent merchants no more." he says formally "My apologies for my estimation earlier being in error, but the esteem able ships of Myr were as slow to rally as their reputation holds. We are now at your service as transports."

"Good," Aenys says. "The army is assembling. Take a few days and enjoy the city. We leave in four days." He turns to the burned man. "Garris, make sure he has whatever he requires." The man bows silently.

Uhtred pauses before speaking to the man "My ships will need water, food, and enough seasoned wood for potential ship repairs for the Voyage. I can get you exact numbers if we get back to my ship. Come on." He'll lead off back into the massive city, setting the burned man with his coordinators who'll handle the logistics. He'll also announce shore leave for 2 days, wherein he'll also send off the "recruiters" to start building up numbers again.

Good cedar is in ready supply, and Garrin sees to the supplies. Recruiters have a hard time talking to the freemen, but slaves can be purchased for cheap, mostly Ghiscari.

Uhtred'll authorize the buying of the slaves to fill up the ranks. Those will serve as oarsmen for now. He has other plans for them later. With his own ships fully crewed the Iron Brotherhood will man the auxiliary merchant ships, allowing them to make up the cargo capacity for the troops. He'll take shore leave as well, never having actually visited the massive slave city. He's curious about the history of the place, and will visit one of the hundred sailors taverns that dot the docks.

His first tavern is boring, but the second he goes into has amateur volunteer fighting. Unarmed men battle for gold and wine and ladies' favors. The ale is good and their liquor selection is perfect for his tastes. They even offer fresh seafood and Lharazeen mutton fresh off a grill. A maid is assigned to him, as he looks rich. "My lord," she greets in passable Westerosi, "welcome to the Famished Dragon."

Harwyn, accompanying his current captain and employer, sees the volunteer fighting and quickly steps away, looking for the man in charge to sign himself up.
