Borros lunged, thrusting the point of his training blade forward, before spinning with a horizontal slash and shield strike.

Ser Ryan caught the sword tip on his shield, before sidestepping to avoid Borros second strike. He quickly brought his own mace down at Borros, keeping his shield up in a high guard.

Borros shield caught Ser Ryan's mace and deflected it and the man tried to step aside, but Brimstone's sword caught him in the legs. Ser Ryan fell to the ground and behind him Borros saw several shapes standing in the doorway.
Most of them were mailed guards but the one in the center was a tall, young woman dressed in black riding leathers. She was beautiful, with smooth tanned skin, soft black hair and icy blue eyes, her body slim but with some curves.
"Congratulations," She said with a faint smile on her face. "Perhaps I should give Ser Ryan's titles to you."

Borros helped Ryan up, before turning his attention reverently to Lady Isabel.
"On the contrary, he fought well, my lady." he said, with a bow. "You are lucky to have two such knights in your service."
"As it is, I currently fear for the landed title I currently possess, one generously granted and currently in great peril."

Ser Ryan rose and dusted himself off, while Lady Uller's expression remained the same.
"Really now. Well, you had best tell me about it. I shall meet you in the great hall in a quarter of a bell." With that she turned and left again, her men trailing her.

Ser Borros thought to interject, as time was of the essence, but she had already left and he could not risk giving offense.
He arrived at the great hall as scheduled, having quickly washed and thrown on a fresh pair of simple clothes.

Lady Uller sat on her wooden high chair, dressed in a black form fitting dress lined with silver thread. She sat with her legs cross, eyes on Ser Borros as he entered, her expression neutral.

"My lady." he said in greeting, kneeling. "Have you been informed of Frances Dayne's razing of White Dunes?"

"I have not," Isabel replied, her expression unchanged. "Please, detail to me what has happened."
Ser Ryan arrived in the hall and stood silently beside Lady Isabel.

Ser Borros told the harrowing tale for what he hoped was the last time, taking no pleasure in recounting the horrors.
"Frances Dayne and fifty men razed White Dunes, putting its populace to the sword. Dayne flayed Ser Tristifer alive and cut the face from his young daughter. I fear Brimstone will be next and request aid as your vassal."

"I see," Lady Uller replied, contemplating for a moment. "How many live in your village, Ser Borros? It is my understanding that the villages north of Hellholt are smaller and sparser than the southern ones."

Borros had expected more alarm at the barbarism but continued with a calm tone.
"A hundred all told, of that half of are fighting age, and only a tenth of that group trained."

"A hundred," Isabel said, nodding. "How did you hear of the news? Was the village investigated? Was Ser Frances' host seen by yourself?"

"A wounded man arrived from White Dunes with Ser Tristifer's disfigured daughter." Borros replied, considering her implications. "There was no reason to doubt his tale and time was of the essence."
