Perros shook his head and smiled as the Smith gave up and paid the overprice for the sack of coal. This was also the usual way that their bantering went, with the Smith giving in to Freheri as the man seemed to never buckle or falter in his convictions. The whole ordeal reminded him that might be time for him to go and check his own fire to see that it was just the right temperature. He had a few jars and other wares that he needed to finish today.

Freheri cracks one eye open again as he heard the horse galloping through town, watching Alanna head to Old Herlons house. Who was that girl? He didn't recognize her. Was that... blood? He grimaced. What was going on? Surely it didn't matter and was just a unusual... Was that the Ser with another man? He came fully awake. Something was going on.

A few minutes later, Ser Borros came galloping up on his red sand steed, rearing the mount hard to come to a stop in the town center. He was clearly in a hurry.
"Citizens of Brimstone!" he bellowed, wheeling his horse around as he shouted so that his voice would carry. "Gather around!"

A small crowd of people quickly began to gather, as the knight calling out so loudly in the town square was a rare occurrence.

The bulky smith was just closing his shop, he had called that a day after he had seen the kid being carried by Alanna. He had his hammer strapped to his waist and his new helmet under his left arm.
Seeing the Knight's call, he approached without much notion of what was going on.

The small wizened man slowly starts putting away his goods, debating closing when there was such a gathering. He flips a copper to one of the young'uns to get close and listen to the knight. His ears were slowly going, and he felt like he needed to be sure . This seemed important.

Roly came to the village center to check on his little hoppers. He frowns as he sees most of the shops closing. One of his best comes up and asks what to do. "Gather the goods from the others and hide them under a wool blanket in ship. I'll give you extra coppers tomorrow." He says to the boy and ruffles his hair. When he hears the knight call out, roly gathers around with the rest.

Garlan Nettle is present, sitting in the shade of one of the buildings surrounding the village center.

"The traitor Francis Dayne has put White Dunes to the sword." he proclaimed, voice carrying on the desert air. "The coward caught them unawares and we will not suffer the same fate if he foolishly turns his ire here next. I call upon your service now, in the name of Lady Isabel Uller and Lady Nalya Martell. Harrick has your instructions for the preparations that must be made for our defense. I ride to warn Hellholt of this treachery and request aid, but will return in short order to lend my steel to Brimstone. This is our home and no man from Starfall will set foot on our borders without paying dearly for the privilege!"
With his peace said, he rode for Hellholt, relying on the renown endurance of dornish sand steeds to ride through the day and night.

Roly laughs an uncomfortable laugh at what the knight proclaims. "Well the tavern sounds like a great idea after that news"

Freheri stumps to the front "now wait just a minute..." He says to the now retreating dust cloud. He hacks violently from the cloud "Ack, ugh. Harrick! What's going on now, don't stint on the details! Why aren't you going, you're not the Ser! Come on young man."

Alanna ran out into the village square, Herlon's bow in one hand. quiver slung over her shoulder. She saw the gathering and stopped to listen. She had an inkling of what might be happening but she wasn't sure.

Harrick remained at the village center and the crowd began surrounding him.
"Any man and woman able to fight should do so - there are spears at the Knight's Hall that will be given out and drills will be held outside of town," The guard announced. "Furthermore we will barricade the road into town. Everyone must help out."
The crowd agreed, declaring that they would defend their village til the end.
Harrick's brother Herrick arrived. "Anyone who is talended at riding and scouting report to me. We need to find out where Dayne and his men are."

Alanna stepped forward. "If anyone can shoot a bow, come to me. I will take charge of any archers we can find."

Fraheri spat up some plegm and did some numbers in his head. Ah, the bastards. He moved over to the big smith "Harmen! You're nearly out of coal even with that bag, and I think they'll need you more than anyone. Come on." He'll lead the smith back to his house if the mans willing, pushing aside the cloth that served as a doorway "Last few months, been meeting the merchants out of town, buying up most of the coal they're willing to sell so I could sell it to you" he grimaces at the man "Solid cheating bastard choice, yeah yeah" he tears off a corner of his inventory and reveals at least 10 sacks of coal and some ore "Now you can take the rest. We'll need it. Half price though?"
