He looked mournfully at the last biscuit before washing it down with a drink. Wiping his mouth, he carefully arranged his bacon on his plate "When the man paying me asks me to do something, that's when I deserve to know a little about it. If Oriax had asked me to blockade Daynes port, or attack his little castle, well then I may deserve to know something. But he asked for transport. That's all. And for you, well, why would he be obliged to tell you anything? Who are you to deserve anything? He told me to get him to Starfall and back, and he told you not not to let him die."

"He only implied that. At any rate, he wasn't in any danger at all during the entire thing." His tone was almost complaining. "If you keep working for him, you're going to need some answers eventually."

Leman shrugged "Haven't seen the man in months. Me and the boys are just having a bit of holiday right now, it's a good time to get some comforts what with the tournament in town and all. You competing in anything?"

"Archery. If I win, maybe someone else interesting will see me, and I can do something other than play bodyguard to a sorcerer who would chop me into little pieces just to perform a little ritual. And as for comforts." He knocked his empty mug onto the floor, where it didn't shatter. "Don't you get bored?"

"After sailing and fighting for what seems like ten years, it's good to be a little bored now. And the melee will be a tad interesting methinks."

"Melees. Too chaotic by far. Luck is a much larger factor than in any other event, and it's not precise. I assume you're participating in it?"

He smiled "Precision was never one of my strong suits I suppose. A bloody mess it'll be, what with all the lords in their fancy armor and high horses. I just try to knock a few of them down some pegs, that sort of thing. Should be a good one."

Jory shrugged, then stood up. "I'm sure you'll heartily enjoy it. I must find a room, methinks. I'll see you at the tourney. Good Day." He turned and abruptly walked away, spinning a dagger in between his fingers.

Jory's food arrived as he was walking out the door, and as he already paid, the serving girl was not inclined to call after him. Leaving the dish on the table, she winked at Uhtred and went off to serve others. He smiled, and reached for the second plate.

"A man," he said. "They say he's killed people, that he likes killing. Not in battle, which would be understandable, or even for pay, which some people are given to." He paused. "He just likes killing, usually the weak, for no good reason. No one's managed to find out who he is yet, but I have some info on where he'll be tomorrow evening." Ser Luc frowned as he listened to Cayn about the man they called the Axeman. "How come the city watch hasn't been able to catch him yet, and if you know where he'll be tomorrow, then why are you not telling the guards that so they can bring him to justice?"

Cayn grinned and tapped the side of his nose. "There's a 200 dragon reward for his head, I don't mean to let some city watchmen get it so they can whore it away. I've got better plans for that money, but I'm a man who is willing to hedge his bets if it makes for a more certain outcome."
"We'll go into the Hairy Wench seperately, at different times, act like we don't know each other. You just follow my lead and back me up if I need help. I'll split the reward with you 70/30."

Ser Luc's eyebrows perched a little, and then he took a sip of wine.
"Hmm, I would say that seems like a unfair deal to me" he said after a while, a hint of a smile on his lips " A 60/40 split sounds much fairer."

Cayn considers this. "You are essentially hired muscle, but that muscle also comes with a knighthood. Why don't we each move half-way and say 65/35?

Ser Luc took another sip from his cup as he considered the new proposal of splitting the profits and his options.
"It looks like we got ourselves a deal, Cayn." he said with a slight smile after a while.

Cayn nods and shakes Ser Luc's hand.
