On the fourth day of sailing, to the far east, the sailor in the crow's nest spots sails. while the ship has passed a few vessels, none have been so far out to sea, where they are surely out of sight of land.

"Sails!" The cry echoes down from the crows nest. Uhtred looks up, curiosity on his face. He yells up at the nest "Which way they heading?"

Jory jumped, alarmed. Sails this far away from the coast couldn't be good. He peered out, looking for details on the ship, and the activity of it's crew, and strung his bow.

From his poor vantage, he can just make out a low shadow on the horizon. The crewman with the glass calls out more. "Two ships, bearing southwest, looks...like Braavosi flags to me." He sounds a bit confused.

Jory called out to the sailor. "Is that good or bad?"

Braavos... odd to see them here. Usually the ships of the Titan didn't sail this far west. "Keep an eye on them, we'll increase to full sail for now." His first mate yells out in braavosi "Full Sail! Full Sail!"

Jory walked over to Uhtred. "Why would Braavosi be here?" He felt a pit in his stomach.

Oriax had hardly been seen on deck in the four days at sea, spending long hours in his cabin with Amelia and the whore he had procured. With the sound of commotion, he made a rare venture to the upper decks. He had strong sea legs for a scholar, having spent far too much time at sea in his various travels.
"Trouble?" he asked the captain.

Boy seemed a little unsettled. Uhtred smiled with confidence back at the scholar "Don't think there's anyting to worry bout lord. Just sighted some sails. The sealord likes to keep a few ships on the trading lanes, keep the interests of the city safe see? Most likely is that's just a normal patrol." What he didn't mention was that they were far off any normal braavosi shipping lanes.

"Your confidence is inspiring, Captain." Jory spoke dryly. "The question is, am I going to need my bow in the next 30 minutes?"

Uhtred sighed inside. The boy was one paranoid son of a bitch, thinking every ship was out to get him. Which made the captain wonder why he would think that way. Hmph. Another time. "Well I don't know bird-man, do you really want to kill everyone on the open sea?" His eyes twinkled above the great brown beard "for now, how about you go up and join my man on the crows nest. Use those sharps eyes of yours."

Jory smiled. "Not everyone on the narrow sea. Maybe not even everyone on this boat." He climbed up to the crows nest, his bow hung over his shoulder.

When he gets to the crow's nest, he can see a bit more. The two ships are lean and dangerous-looking, clearly built for raiding or war. They are approaching the ship, but not on a direct line.
