Jarvis looks confused. "Bizarre, though; ain't no Ibbenese tortoise ships. They're from east of Qarth, even."

Titus gave him a sidelong look. "More bizarre then a creature with 8 sword wielding arms comprised of dead men? I'll give you, it's strange, but hardly the strangest thing either of us have seen this month. Susceptible to fire, maybe? If we can't board her, we'll have to burn her."

"See the covering, ser? It's very thin iron...doesn't burn worth a damn. A good design. Our main chance will be flanking them and sinking them at the waterline."

Titus strained his eyes and could just make out what he was referring to. "Very well, then, that's what we'll do. Try and pin them against the shore and with a bit of luck the rocks might aid our efforts. Worth a try at least, we don't have a lot of options," he scowled. "Make it happen, pass the word to the fleet, Jarvis."

Jarvis has the signalman make the necessary orders, and the fleets align; titus's right near the shore to their left.

"We've got orders sir!" "So we do. Alright, pull up and spread out. Get buckets of water up for fires. Start boiling the pitch if we have any. Don't think their plates are water tight." Uhtred looked at their position. A little closer to the shore than he would've liked... but maybe he could use that?

The fleets exchange massive volleys of ballistae and catapult fire, and a few holes on some of the strange enemy ships open up, so Titus gives the command to close. The sea begins frothing with the crash of waves on hulls and the frenzy of the feeding sharks as men cross and die and kill.
Enemy loses two corsairs (heavy hit)

Uhtred looked down at the broken man sobbing at his feet. "Be quiet" He growled as he kicked the man off the captured ship. He see's the enemy disengaging and turns back to his own ship. Walking across the plank they had thrown to board her, he calls out to no one in particular "Did we lose anyone?"

There are bodies all about him, so it's probably a resounding yes, but overall the battle wasn't half so bloody as it could have been. The enemy didn't seem to have been expecting a fleet quite so large. One of his sailors nods. "Mercenaries from Sothoryos, apparently. Paid in gold to drop off reinforcements here."

"Ship-wise? The Dragons Scream was alight last time I saw it." He squinted across the water, searching for his own ships.

Its sails were smoking, but the ship itself seems fine. "Probably need to repair the mast, but these hulls are sturdy enough. Hard to sink a ship after all, unless you're a corsair and you sail straight into a galleon's firepower."

"Good, good. That seemed to go well, but I'll have to talk to Ser Titus about our next move."
