To Norvos. Kalvin Stark, with a hundred men, and Lord Ragnar, with his crew, head southeast towards Harrys Snow's estate.

Ragnar looked over at Kalvin.
"Do you know anything new about Snow?"

"Just that he's my king's bastard brother, from what my grandfather told me once. He knew him, a little. Brutal man." He shrugged as they marched. "He won't die easy."

"Why would he turn against his king? Resentment that he's a bastard?"

"Too brutal," Kal says. "And he did something back in the day, but no one ever told me what 'it' was." They're two days out from Braavos now, and the fields outside are low rolling hills and rather boring, open plains. "He didn't upgrade on real estate."

Ragnar shrugged.
"Fancy homes aren't for everyone. It seems to me that Snow would make a good raider, had he been born Ironborn. I know men like him, grew up with them."

"He's a good raider anyway, or he was." Kal shrugged. "Mostly he hunted your types, from what I understand. And whatever he was, he's something far more than that now."

"Aye. Pity. Bastard. We'll kill him," Ragnar said. "You know if he has any weaknesses?"

"I don't even know his strengths," Kalvin said. As they cross the next hill, they see dozens of bodies, newly slain, lining the road on both sides. They are spaced about ten yards apart each, and they extend the long mile to a house on the right. "Well...looks like he's expecting company."

"Bastard."
Ragnar looked over the corpses.
"Even my people would not do that, not unless they had a damned good reason. I wonder who these people were?"

"Doesn't much..." he stops a moment as they pass what must have been a very beautiful woman's corpse, "...matter now. It's sending a message, that's for sure." The men behind them look suddenly nervous. Such cruelty is difficult to fathom for most. "Lower morale, increase fear...playing mind games, I'd say."

"Perhaps. But he must have a ready supply of people to serve his needs, then. It's most odd."

"What's your plan, then? I'd say we just storm the place, kill everyone, then burn it to the ground and piss on the ashes." He shrugs, then draws his greatsword. "This won't be easy."

"I'm willing to do that, but I think we should scout around for the best way in, first," Ragnar suggested. "I love a good fight, but I don't want to lose men without cause."

"All right, then." they circle the manor warily. It seems curiously unoccupied. Or, at least no one acknowledges their presence one way or the other. "Odd."
