"Time to inspect the ruins, at least. Surely something remains." Kavin and his northmen start spreading out.

Ragnar nodded and began to help them in their search. He was sure to be thorough.

There is wreckage everywhere, and little enough to see. As Ragnar and the crew prepare to quit, He stubs his toe. Looking down, he sees a black iron ringlet protruding from the ground, like a handle.

Ragnar swore as he reached down to look at the ring. He tugged it.

The ring after a heavy tug opens to reveal a staircase heading down. Ragnar cannot see the end of it.

"Anyone got a light?" Ragnar called to the assembled Ironborn and Northmen. "I want to see this."

Kalvin grumbles. "Fucking narrow passages." He heads to his horse to get a one hand sword and shield. One of Ragnar's men lights a torch, and a dozen men follow suit. "No sense in everyone going down."

"Aye. Someone needs to stay here and guard the area to make sure we can get out this side if necessary," Ragnar said.

There's seventy men, so finding a few guards is simple. "Ten with us, the rest keep searching. Groups of four or more. Capture anyone, kill any who resist. Nothing here is worth dying for." Kalvin gestures down the stairs. "You first, or me?"

"You go first," Ragnar said. "We should arrange for some of our men to keep an eye on the trapdoor though. Two should be sufficient."

Kalvin chuckles and has a man toss a torch down the stairs to get a better view. It tumbles a few times and drops about twenty five feet. Two men with crossbows and another with a sharp spear watch the door as they descend.
When they reach the bottom, they are coming perpendicular into a hallway, which runs either way past the radius of their torchlight.

Ragnar looked all around the area, trying to see if there was any difference in the different directions.
"Which way?"

"Fuck if I know. Never been here," Kalvin notes.

"Fine. I'll go first and just pick a direction. I don't think we should split up. I want someone to watch our backs."

"Jared, keep your crossbow pointed the other way. Anyone you hear won't be friendly. Nathyn, you're in charge of making sure his ass doesn't die if one crossbow bolt doesn't stop whoever comes." Kalvin makes a theatrical gesture. "Lead the way."
