Martyn pretends to not be listening, and Nina dismisses him with a gesture. He heads out to guard the main entrance. "I'm...sad, Benjen Stark." Her eyes are bright with unfallen tears.

"I... I'm sorry," Benjen said, feeling slight discomfort. "I don't really know what to say."

"It's...well, I mean, partially your fault, of course, but it's not a bad thing. I just...I thought maybe I was that lucky princess who the prince saved and then...well, had a happy ending and all. I...wanted to give you my body and my life a few nights ago." A sniffle creeps out despite her best efforts. "I...just wanted some good to come out of such a horrible nightmare."

"I am sorry that it could not be so, Nina," Benjen said, almost moving to hug the girl. "But the world is no fairy tale..." He sighed. Had he made the wrong choice?

"Maybe it can be every now and again. The monsters are real enough, anyway. Maybe the hope should be too." For just a second, and maybe it is just from the events that have occurred, it sounds like something another woman may have said to Benjen not so long ago. "But, why are you here?"

"I came here to speak with Martyn actually," Benjen said, not wishing to let his emotions be questioned too much, lest he come to realize he made the wrong choice. "To speak about... the man that tried to come after you."

"Cassadar. I'm the only one who saw him, I think," she says, "unless someone else did outside here." She shivers.

"Did you see his face? Or did Martyn?" Benjen asked. "Would either of your recognize him again?"

She starts to shrink up into a ball now, unconsciously. "Martyn only saw his disguise. I saw his face. He's...not going to let me live." she sounds terrified the first two sentences, but in the third, she seems more resigned to the fact. "No one can stop him, I don't think. Except maybe you."

Benjen couldn't help but give the girl a hug. "You will be safe, Nina; your mother would do anything to protect you and I will do my best to find him. Now, if I sent an artist to you would you be able to describe Cassadar's face to them so they could draw him?"

"Not...not really. He just looks like a person. Like...you, or my father, or my brother...I just...remember him, somehow." She shivers in his hug. "Mother can't stop him. Neither can Markus Dayne, or cousin Andros, or....any of them." She let out her breath. "You know that."

"What hair colour did he have? And his eyes? What was the shape of his nose and mouth like?" Benjen paused. "I'm sorry... we will do all we can to keep you safe, Nina." He hugged her tighter.

"Brown, brown...all brown. He looked like...well, actually..." she looks at him nervously, "a Stark."

"A Stark?" Benjen asked, looking at Nina with a worried expression. "I will have to have a dig around in the family histories."

"I mean, of course he can't be a Stark! You are all so noble and brave, and he's so..." She shivers again. "I just can't talk about him with anyone else. Only you saw what he's capable of, even to a little degree."
