"Our protector looks a tad miserable does he not?" Ami pondered out loud. "First the wine, now unattractive guards; Eddard's Rest is exactly I remember it." She laughs and looks at the girls she had not met yet. "An honour, ladies. I assume you are all here to woo the dear Prince. What fun he will have!"

The horses go to a canter for a few minutes so they can enjoy the rush of the wind, and when they finally slow down to a more sustainable pace, Serena Tully finally answers. "I'm not sure there's much point in wooing him. If that worked, someone would have succeeded by now. Although...yes, I'd marry him of course. Although I did see Catherine here's brother the other day...and my my has he grown up."
Unintelligible mumbling comes from the girl in front.

"Perhaps I will have to seek him out. Catherine, surely you know a good spot when one could catch your brother in private?" She grinned and stuck her tongue out at the girl.

"Probably at a brothel. Wait, you said private? After he leaves the brothel." Catherine sounds cheerful suddenly at the thought.
Serena gasps a little bit but Ella and the rest of the girls are laughing.

Ami joined in the laughter. "I do not remember the biting wit from when I last saw you, Catherine; though with his information I leave it to Serena to tackle your brother." She winked at Ella.

Serena is now red-faced as a tomato, and a merry laugh is had at her expense. The Lady Redfort joins in for a moment. "Well, if nothing else, he'll know where it goes on that magical night!"

Ami gave another small laugh before riding up beside Serena. "I am sorry, Serena, my cruel words were not intentional. If I had to speak in all honesty all of us girls are simply jealous of that mane of hair you have." She smiles brightly. "Forgive our words."

She giggled. "Oh, I don't take offense. I'm not that fragile after all. It's more fun to pretend sometimes." The ride continues and she leans over to the Vale girl. "So, I've been hearing that people are headed east to Slaver's Bay! How bizarre is that, after all these years people want to talk to House Targaryen again? Supposedly they have some sort of dragon army...but that isn't possible. Is it?"

Amelia laughed. "Isn't that always the way; as soon as someone seems powerful enough they are worth being thought of as an ally. As for dragons? Posh! Those beasts died out years ago. And if they do have one it is likely to be some sick, twisted thing barely as large as a dog."

"Well," Catherine says, "there's no point in a weak ally. They can only drag you into trouble, not get you out of it."
Ella shrugs. "In Braavos they say the dragon is real. It supposedly destroyed some Dothraki Khalasar and caused a war."

"Braavos is full of stories, but perhaps... no, surely not!" Ami said, shaking her head. "So who do you think will be going over to Slaver's Bay?"

Ella shrugged. "I'd assume they would want people who can speak something of the overseas tongues, but I really don't know. Maybe you should go...marry a Targaryen and rule over a giant desert plagued with horse-people."
Candace Dustin chuckled. "It'd be worse than marrying a Dornishman."

Amelia laughed. "Oh, I don't think I'll want to visit that far. And marry one of the Targaryens? From what I have read of old histories they could be very... strange."

"Well, you aren't related to them so it might count as a win-win for them." Catherine pipes in.
Along the road, the ladies and their giant guardian see a long column of men and women approaching, apparently the Vale lords and bannermen assembled.
"There's so many," Candace says, "I've never seen so large a caravan."

Ami shook her head. "The closest I have seen was probably outside Oldtown, but that was nowhere near as long as this..." She paused, studying the men and women she saw riding down the road. "I wonder how long they've been traveling for."
