Sothoryos's western coastline, a dreamy looking beach interrupted by shipwrecks, animals bigger than houses, and native warriors of considerable power.

The five remaining of the castaways sit around, watching the Warriors heard fellow shipwrecked sailors away. LAra leans in to Leona. "When they're gone, let's set a rowboat on fire and signal the ships," she said, looking at the still-close vessels a half mile offshore. "We can figure out how to make them take us aboard later."

Leona thought for a moment. "Perhaps. You don't think they'd just kill us?"

"No, but...the other thing is possible," Emma said shakily. "But this continent will eat us all alive, and maybe they will really need a few hands to help," she suggested hopefully. "There's a lot of dead men here."

Leona couldn't argue with that. "We should try then. And we were all going to be um...forced to do things we didn't want to do before. At least this way we have a chance to avoid it."

Hanna nodded. "Well, we...we can hope it doesn't come to that," she said shakily. After just a few minutes the tribesmen lead the sailors through the tree line and not a trace of anyone can be seen by the stranded, desolate hulk of a ship, which the men had left alone after denuding it of men.

Watching their quarry, Leona said to the others "We must not appear weak when we approach them. We should start thinking about how we can be an asset to them."

Lara nodded agreement. Hanna nodded slowly. "I can make medicines," she claimed. "And my sister can sew sails and the like." Lara nodded.
"And we have Leona who can fight and sail, and I can navigate...I think. We'll say I can," she concluded. "I don't think Crowl needs any special skill past being able to beat men to death barehanded." The giant just smiles. "So should we head to the ship? Maybe they left something aboard...or we can see if we can get it seaworthy."

"Yes, let's. I don't think we've enough people to crew a ship, though, so we'll probably still need to signal for assistance. But it can't hurt to look," Leona agreed.

Swiftly the quintet head down towards the beach, then wade through the shark infested waters to the ship. Leona sees a problem right away; the rudder is broken. They clamber aboard using the netting along the side the crews had disembarked with. It is a bit eerie seeing a seventy foot ship with no crew or signs of life at all, and the twins look scared bu they head to the lower decks. Ephrym looks for the arms room, while Lara looks to Leona. "I guess we get the captain's cabin," she said.
The cabin is sealed with a thick door, but the lock has been broken and it hangs open limply, opening and closing with the waves. Leona sees it is tiny, as befitting such a small vessel, but on first glance it has a bed, a few logs and the like, and some bottles of a fluid that is probably alcoholic in nature.

"Interesting," she said. "We should search for anything else of use though."
She began looking under the bed and anywhere else.

+2 Observation
Leona finds a hidden board under the bed she can move. It reveals a cutlass she can wield and also a cloth map of northwestern Sothoryos. If she can match some landmarks on it to a feature she may be able to pinpoint her location at some point, at least to within a hundred or so miles...which is much close to her location than the eight thousand miles of mass the giant and unexplored continent holds.

Holding both the map and the cutlass, Leona turned to Lara. "Are you any good with maps?"

Lara shrugged. "It can't be that hard to read one, right?" She asked. She leans in ad looks at it. "It's labeled which is really useful." The two can see a bunch of trees with a huge mountain marked off, and in the ocean a star shaped cluster of islands. It's hard to say if they are anywhere near the place, though, and then near the volcano is a mark labeled "Xintilan". "Never heard of whatever Xintilan is either," she said, shaking her head. "Maybe a ruin?"

"Perhaps. Is it worth trying to find out though? We could ask Ephrym if he knows?" Leona suggested. "I've sailed a bit, but nowhere near as far as this. I've never even seen a map of Sothorys!"
