Spacious and lavishly decorated in red and gold, the solar feels quite cozy due to its large fireplace that dominates an entire wall. Lannister tapestries hang from other walls, some of them depicting various historical events and figures, such as Lann the Clever.

Ser Lyonel Vikary arrived at Casterly Rock at the head of twenty men. Shortly after, he was shown to the solar, and admitted entrance. Queen Joanna had been standing by one of the tall windows, observing the courtyard, but she of course turned to Ser Lyonel as he entered the room. She had the oddest feeling of having already spoken to this man on at least one occasion in the past, though she was fairly sure they'd not met before. Perhaps he had a double running around in Westeros somewhere. "Ser Lyonel," she greeted with a slight smile. She wore a fine dress of green that day, embroidered in gold, and perfectly matching her eyes. "I do not believe we have formally met. You were friends with my late husband, I believe?"

Lyonel had made sure that he had dressed appropriately before he travelled the last few miles into Casterly Rock and was freshly barbered and shaven. He gave a short bow to his liege lady.
"Yes I was, my lady. Tomas and I had similar interests and we fought together in the Reach and Dorne. It grieved me to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences."

"Thank you," Joanna said with a small nod, looking a bit regretful for a moment. "But it is 'Your Grace' now," she corrected, and looked at him expectantly; her letter to him had first and foremost been about swearing fealty.

"Of course." replied Lyonel, nodding in acknowledgment. "I heard you had been crowned Queen of the Goldlands. Indeed it appears there have been two crownings - yours and one in Kings Landing."

Suppressing the urge to raise an eyebrow at the man's words, her lips formed into a thin smile instead. "Indeed. Am I to take it this is merely a courtesy visit on your way to King's Landing then?" she asked lightly.

"Not at all." replied Lyonel, recognising a slight bristling that, given he was married to a high-born lady, he was all too familiar with.
"I received your letter and I am here. I have no intention to go to Kings Landing. Had it been otherwise would I have answered your summons? That does not change the fact that there has been a crowning in Kings Landing."

"Not unless you weren't particularly clever," she replied, despite it having been a rhetorical question, "Which I'm fairly sure no one would accuse you of, despite not knowing you very well myself. Have a seat," she offered, after sitting on one of the comfortable armchairs by the fireplace. "Tomas spoke highly of your prowess, I recall."

Lyonel sat as he was directed.
"Did he?" he replied with a slightly sad smile. "That was kind of him. I hope he did not exaggerate. I would hate not being able to live up to my reputation."

"I hope so, too," she replied with half a smile, and studied him for a long moment, as if trying to decide something. "Which is why you are here, of course. I want to give you command of my armies, seeing as it is as you said.. there has also been a coronation at King's Landing."

Lyonel sat impassive for a moment. "I am but a knight, Your Grace." he finally said. "Would your great lords consent to be commanded by a mere knight? No matter what his ability?"

"Which is why I would give you a lordship," she said with a knowing smile, having expected as much. "Perhaps a nice castle to go with it. I hear the view from Castamere can be lovely this time of the year."

"That it is." replied Lyonel. "Vikary Hall is close to Castamere. I grew up there, so know it well.."

"House Vikary are descendants of House Reyne, are they not? It would only be fitting," she said. "Have we reached an understanding?"

"As I understand it, you are offering the lordship of Castamere to me and my descendants and heirs as well as command of your armies. If that is so, then I accept and you have my loyalty and fealty." replied Lyonel solemnly.
