Benjen returned the hug. "Our daughter lives and she will receive the love that Cassana cannot." He looked at his sister. "I had considered taking the Black. The Night's Watch needs rebuilding."

"You considered taking the black... Benjen... You are heir to the throne." There was really enough Chaos right now without Benjen causing more. She know he was in mourning, but really.
"What would Cassana want you to do?"

"To do what I have to to protect our daughter and our family. Perhaps to be happy." He tapped the hilt of his sword. "Which means finding the Others and dealing with them. After that... who knows."

"You can't protect your daughter by giving her up and disowning her to join the watch now can you?" She asked, "We will deal with them, as soon as we find them, after that, we need to start actually governing the north properly. I swear we spend more time out of it than we do in it."

Benjen shook his head. "I had considered it only in the darkest of moments. The cold makes you think some dangerous things sometimes. You and Kal will do good work governing the North and I feel I shall spend some more time at Eddard's Rest. Father is getting older."

"You do not need to tell me about the cold and what it makes you do" Robyn said, her eyes flashing a bit as she said it, like she was remembering something terrible. "More time at The Rest would be good I think, let people actually get to see their prince ruling," It was mostly a tease, "But I do not think you'll be able to stay there for long. War never stays away for long."

"It does not, does it?" Benjen asked bitterly. "Ideally I do not want to get drawn into this business between the Goldlands and the Kingsland unless it is absolutely unavoidable. Then there is the Order and Frances Dayne. I do not trust Queen Janelle, especially now that her men are hunting all dragons."

"People of the Order abducted me" Robyn said, as if it were fairly commonplace, "So I am not hugely fond of them either at the moment."

Benjen looked up at her, his face darkening. "They abducted you? What... what happened to you up here?" His hand was still on his sword and he let it go. "War it is then."

"No Benjen, I don't want war. I spoke to Janelle and she claimed she knew nothing about it. If we have war, Vhagus will come, with his dragons and then he may never leave" She said, "Nothing happened, I got away in time, so can we let this one slide?"

"She must be lying, if you are certain that it was Order men who took you," Benjen responded. "Please tell me what happened - I do not wish to be left in the dark about things like this. You did a huge service to the realm by risking your life to change the path of that energy. The Order men showed up here, beyond the Wall?"

"Yes, well, I don't really want to keep thinking about it," Robyn said, "but yes, order men and women, beyond the wall..."

"Of course, sorry," Benjen said, his tone softening a little. "I am sure you'll want to rest and have something proper to eat. We're not going to be moving for a while here."

"Thank you," she said, smiling at her brother then moving off.
