Uhtred glances behind him. He'd rather have the Crowl running headfirst into whatever they were going into. Having a cannibal at your back, well, better than having a cannibal eating your back he supposed.

"Fear just means you're moving forward. No one fears where they have already trend." he replied to Robyn, nodding as her husband spoke. "Never was a fan of subtlety. Once more into the fray then."

Crowl does as he is told, moving from the front to the back in the likely event that anything tried to ambush them from behind.

They enter a giant chamber, they are at the top and looking down into a seething mass of bodies. Lion and wolf and falcon banners can be seen, decrepit and pitted.

Uhtred stares down at mass. "What..." he begins, but just falls silent.

The bodies roil and tumble about. Kalvin is silent. "There must be..." he frowned. "Robyn, you said Westeros has fought the Others before?"

Uhtred looked closely at the bodies "It must have happened before, there are so... many." He tries to get some kind of count.

"It's an old legend for a reason." Killion remarked, amazed but unperturbed by the mass of writhing corpses. He had seen worse on his islands and he saw no kraken banners in the mix.

I do not know what happened to them though, my trip into the past ended before I saw what happened, " Robyn admitted quietly, looking down at the bodies. "That was at least three thousand years ago..."

"And they look like they've gotten more since then," he said, looking at the pile. "Everyone who has ever gone to fight them ends up here." As they talk, they hear a skittering noise, echoing about, and a huge spider comes into view on the ceiling of the vast, nearly endless chamber, striding towards them. More start appearing, each ten or twelve feet across as they begin their approach. "I'd say we overstayed our welcome!"

Ew.
Rpnbyn nodded her head, looking round from the spiders to the bodies a couple of times, then turned round to head to the exit with the others.. What could they do? What had gone in there, they could discuss later.
She kept her obsidian dagger drawn, if there were any others, watching over their stock, now would be the perfect time to try adding them to the mix.

A blast of hot air emerges from the bottom of the cave, rolling over the group as they retreat. Robyn sees crystalline figures at the edge of her vision, across the cavern, some hanging upside-down from the giant spiders like a gravity defying cavalry. They rush out of the mountain cap and back onto the snow. The blinding, dangerous, monochromatic snow.

How terrible.
When they escaped from the mountain, Robyn stopped for a moment.. looking back, "I told you we should have gone left... do you think that would have just taken us to the spiders?" Robyn asked, trying to regain her breath, the cold feeling even colder after the warmth.

"No one likes a person who said 'I told you so,'" Kalvin said, panting. "Especially not while being chased by spiders bigger than horses." He frowned at the endless field. The skittering continues getting closer. The going across the glacier is slow with the ice shoes on but otherwise the risk of falling is too high. The group sets back south trying to escape eight legged death.

"Where can we get some of those things for our cavalry?" Crowl asks between pants, "Shit works wonders for the fear factor."
