Lucas nods. "We'll be here," he said. "Just be careful, this one won't bother with trying to look heroic. If a thousand arrows will do the trick, he'll use five thousand."

Benjen nodded. "I'm not intending to die beyond the Wall," He stated, before leaving to ready his things.

//////////////
Prince Benjen strode beside Julia as he lead the fleeing troupe of guards and Night's Watchmen away from the dead and towards the Wall. "We did it..." He says as he watches the dead drop further and further out of sight.

As they get to within about two miles of the Wall, Julia and Orys look ahead. To the west they see a black mass a mile long, thousands and thousands of corpses. At their head is a standard flying a black wine glass. "Gods," Julia said. "There's so many." On the trail they had passed a few dozen corpses of those who had gone too far and fallen, but it seems four of every five noncombatant lived. "Can even the Wall stop this?"

Benjen stared at the distant army and for a moment felt sick. "It will have to... gods..." He closed his eyes and said a prayer to the Old Gods. "We have to run! Now!! Faster than you've ever run before!"
He looked around to see if any of the children were still there. If so he would pick one up and carry it.

The others aren't there, so presumably they got through. The thirty five remaining men and one woman make it to the Wall as the dead approach, and as their dead rise around them the gates open slightly and let them through. "Fucking hell fuck!" Orys said as it closes. "Where's the First Ranger!? The dead are the fucking least of the problems!"
They are led to the castle quickly. Broom is organizing black brothers for archers on the Wall. "Prince Benjen," he said. "I took these people in, but I can't feed them for long." He shook his head. "We fucking kicked the hornet's nest now."

Benjen took a moment to catch his breath and drank deeply from his water skin. "Aye, that we did. You're a good man Broom; I'll take the wildlings south me to Winterfell, perhaps to the Flint Cliffs where the other wildlings have settled." He took another sip. "They'll be coming for the Wall now. They won't be able to pass though."

"Unless the others let them through," he said. "They've never marched like this. Not the death knights. Never revealed themselves openly." He shook his head. "Their confidence is growing. And the dead are only restrained by the watchers on the Wall; only the Others and these...knights seem fazed by it. We have had dead brothers rise here, behind the Wall."

"Let's hope the Lord Commander or the Shadow Tower people do anything stupid," Benjen said, a dread feeling coming over him. "Ship with the children arrive already?" He asked, draining his skin. "And how many men does the Watch have currently?"

"Yes, two days ago," he said. "Nowhere near enough. Maybe eighteen hundred, I guess. I'd only vouch for a third of them, though. If they don't lack loyalty, they lack courage," he said. "We need an army."

Benjen nodded. "The North is with you, and the Riverlands and the Vale. But we'll need more." He frowned and scratched his beard. "I'll need evidence of what is going on up here. Of the dead rising and the death knights."

Broom shook his head. "If your word ain't enough nothing will be," he said. "What do you need?"

Benjen shrugged. "A still-moving hand? Something like that," He said, as Felix referenced the books through lack of originality. "There's too much war going on as it is. Frances fucking Dayne isn't making this any easier."

"All I have are corpses," he admitted.

"My word will have to do," Benjen said with a nod. "Can you spare one of the brothers that was with me? A second testimonial wouldn't help, especially if it's from a man of the watch."
