"Lord Kalvin," he said. "I think I'm going to have to send him away."

"What?!" Benjen asked, looking shocked. "Away where? Why?"

"He nearly killed two men trying to stop him from slaughtering everyone in the Greyjoys' camp when he heard of this fucking Ironborn issue," he said. "I want Goodbrother dead. And his family. And his king. And their islands." Terrence tapped the table. "But not just yet."

Benjen frowned. "I know father. We cannot afford a war right now with the Iron Islands. We do not have the ships and there are more pressing matters." He studied Terence. "We will be getting Lady Karstark back if peace is to be an option."

"We will be getting her back whether it is to be peace or war," he said. "Confronting the man and then letting him walk away..." He shook his head. "The word isn't good. What other enemy now?"

"I wasn't about to let a fight break out while we are here on Lord Mason's land," Benjen told his father. "Up North, father, beyond the Wall. Something is there."

"You'd have killed him for Robyn, or Cassana," he said. "I hope. If you're not willing to back up a confrontation then don't start one. It makes us look weak, the Greyjoys can smell a desire for peace. They consider it weakness." As he hears of the Wall, he shakes his head. "The Night's Watch has much to answer for," he agreed. "Lord Quentyn has said his daughter wishes to go. I did not giver her a city to have her traipse about. I need Gulltown producing gold," his voice is u characteristically angry.

"I started nothing, father; that was Robyn who squared up to Goodbrother," Benjen responded. "As for gold, well, I have a question regarding that. Where is it coming from? The North shouldn't be as rich as it is and Kalvin would not tell me anything."

"He better not." Terrence said. "You should have sent the Crowl in and taken her," he sighed angrily. "If they want to fight over that then you're justified in killing every gods damned one of them." He shook his head. "We will discuss the gold later. Suffice to say I did not spend two hundred thousand golden dire wolves to beg Killion Greyjoy to please stop taxing the Stepstones."

Benjen narrowed his eyes at his father. "I can promise you that Harwyn Goodbrother will not be leaving this place alive. But we do not have the fleet to deal with the Ironborn. We cannot war against them."

"Then what do you propose?" He asked. "What terms are suitable for dealing with these animals?"

"I don't know yet, father, but their ships will be necessary," Benjen responded. "Their reavers had a run in with Shaun Redwyne beyond the Wall, supposedly. I can only imagine they will dedicate their fleet to trying to fight the man."

"if Lord Redwyne is killing Ironborn he will get no interference from me," he said. "Not by a long shot."

Benjen sighed, knowing his father clearly wanted this war. "How do we fight them then, with their hundreds of ships? How do we take back the Arbor and the Shields?"

"I'll tell you after you try dealing with the Greyjoys," he said. "If you can make them agree to acceptable terms we can forget this talk ever happened."
