Nick shrugs. "It's harder to get along in peace than war. I imagine the Lady Arania will find the idea of allying with the Ironborn who raped and burned the Arbor to hunt down its lord who killed them to be repulsive, but then I don't know the woman."

"They will need to understand that matters of land, of state, of our kingdoms do not matter in the face of what grows beyond the Wall," Benjen responded. He thought for a moment before turning to Nick. "Where do you suggest we start out search? If I tell Amelia she cannot go North then she will be furious and I would rather she be busy with something."

"Gulltown." He said. "The drug is an epidemic there. It is coming from somewhere, so we find a ship smuggling it and find a scent to follow it.

"As far as Amelia said she has clamped down hard on the drug but it shouldn't be too hard to find one that still smuggles it," Benjen said, thinking on that. "I will ask Robyn, she's good at this sort of work."

"we'll need to spread to the other cities too. They must all have distributors we can lean on." He shrugged. "But that's more your area. I've got other things to focus on."

"My area is leading men and commanding battles," Benjen responded, rubbing his head in frustration. "Joanna will be able to help, if I ask her nicely. Arania too."

"Leading men," he agreed. "Such as ordering them to go places they don't want to." His lip twitches at Joanna's mention. "I certainly hope so, but word from Oldtown is that a navy is being built, Iron Fleet be damned." He shakes his head. "Lannisport and Oldtown are probably their biggest distribution points and will need the most attention."

Benjen nodded at that. "It won't be easy. I hate facing an enemy I can't see, damn it. Where will you be going?"

Nick shrugs. "I'll follow our sister. Best to keep an eye on her. She's too fast for the lot of you," he said.

Benjen chuckled. "Too fast? I am not sure if that's the right word for it but that doesn't matter."

"Too small? Eh, something like that," he said. "Or maybe see what the Goldlands has to offer. Oldtown is new to me."

"The two of you work well together," Benjen commented, looking out of the window. "I am sorry about Ellaria, brother. I know she meant a lot to you."

Nick doesn't react as Benjen might have expected. "We both missed out on happiness in that, I think." He claps him on the shoulder. "We wouldn't have stayed happy. She'd want to stay at Starfall and I'd...well, be doing what I do."

Benjen sighed, looking at Nick. "I don't think it would have worked between us either. But who knows..." He shook his head. "I'm concerned about the impeding peace talks. The Goldlands and the Ironborn will clash."

"They should," Nick said. "They are at war, after all. As...I mean...aren't we still at war with them?"
