"Oh, no," he said. "You look much better firing it than I ever would. It's definitely not built for someone my height," he adds. "Your Crowl clearly made it specific to you."

"He's good like that, is the Crowl" Robyn said smiling, and standing back to let him try again, "Tell me about Ashemark."

Brandon fires another solid shot. He is a serviceable archer but no Robyn, for sure. His superior strength gives his shots a certainty to their velocity that hers lack, but she is sure she can shoot miles around him if need be. "Well, princess, it is a nice castle up in the highest hills of the West," he said. "We have a few small gold claims yet, but now the bulk of our wealth comes from coal and tin and the carbon used to create steel," he said. "So it's a lot of accounting, as I'm sure you can guess, but I like it. The air is clean and the falcons are everywhere."

"Falcons eh?" She said and grinned round at him, shooting again, and aiming for the centre once more. She was known as a great archer, why should she hide her skill for some mans pride? "Like the Arryns?"
"Coal and tin and steel are just as necessary and valuable as gold, golden swords tend to dent easily"

"Like real ones," he laughed. "Peregrine falcons, fastest birds alive," he said. He arches his head as she shoots. "By the gods you're phenomenal. Who taught you?" he asked. "I thank you for the compliment to make me feel like coal is something you have an interest in," he laughed.

"Everything I know comes from being taught by Lord Kalvin, though I admit, I got on better with the bow due to my own study at it.' She smiled, " it is no vain flattery, I am a girl wholl take coal and Steel over gold any day,"

"That would be a cute necklace," Brandon said with a laugh. His next arrow misses. "Drat! Well, you win," he said. "Obviously. Kalvin Stark...did he teach you swords too then?"

"He did, do you wish to see if those trained by the north side finest match up to the brave knights of the west?" She asked, grinning "I am not nearly so good at the sword."

"Liar," he laughed. "Let's try it." They head for some manly weapons. "I choose you to wield..this great mace," he said.

"You're choosing my weapons for me?" She said looking at the mace and knowing it would be far to big for her, she held her hand out, "after tossing around ice like its nothing, this will be feather light?" Robyn said, preparing her srm for a great weight.

He laughs. "Of course not. Pick your weapon," he chuckled. "Even I'm not that unfair." He tests a quarterstaff for weight and seems satisfied.

"You're chivalry incarnate," she says, though her tone holds some relief. She chooses her usual sized short sword, a much better size and weight for her, "don't get distracted by the dress," she teased, and went to an empty area so they could fight.

Brandon leaves the joking offer to have her remove it for freedom of motion silent. She is a princess, after all. The pair hear a few catcalls as they ready for a fight. "Feel free to initiate," he offers.

"Ladies first," she grinned and offered in return, but readied herself, and struck out first, focusing on moving quickly and sharply, to counter her much greater reach

Brandon is fast too, and the pair spin about, swords whirring through the air and the fight on even ground. Robyn is slowed considerably by her impractical dress, but in compensation the young knight doesn't try any tricks with hand or foot. The swords clang and clash again and again, sparks flying a few times at hits at odd angles, and in the first match Brandon is able to negate enough of Robyn's speed to rest his blade on her shoulder. They are both sweating after the long clash. "And you fight like that in a dress?" He said with a short pant.
