Morgan winced. "I hadn't thought of that. But Maester Harlan is one of the best known of all the maesters. I don't think he'd double cross me, and he knows we could cause havoc if we chose. And now that other people know what happened to me, the scandal if I died or disappeared would be too great to risk. I'll ask my brother to give me some of his men as my permanent guard in the city. Besides, I might end up failing the exam and then I won't be staying anyway."

She smiled at him and whispered "Sorry, Quentyn. I know how much you love killing. But I'm sure I can find other ways to amuse you before we part ways." She took a little step back. " I expect I'll be here a few years yet, if I pass the exam. I#d be happy to see you if you cared to visit in the future. And after that, well, I'll worry about the future when I must."

"I don't know if I'll have the chance for much visiting. But if not, you can always write. Especially now that I have someone to tend the ravens." He looked around for his new maester. "Elwyn, did I or did I not tell you to pack your things and get to the docks? You think a minor hostage situation changes that?"

Morgan smiled kindly at the maester. "it's alright, really. No harm will come to you."
To Quentyn she said "I'll write when I can, but it might not be for a while. I have much to learn about Oldtown and life at the Citadel."

Elwyn shrugs. "These are my things," he comments drily. "See you there, then," he says as he leaves.
