Vern shook his head, then went to speak, then just smiled. "Of course that's what will happen." He shook his head. "This is a wretched mistake, Morgan Brax. When the lady Hightower sends her men here to sort this out blood will be spilled. And she has a lot more of it than any of us do." He calls to the men at the door. "Sounds like we'll be headed out! Stand down!"
Elwyn is just in the corner looking confused.

Morgan frowned. "I would prefer to solve this with minimal bloodshed. If you cooperate with me I will urge Lady Hightower towards clemency."

Vern starts laughing. "You think she will have clemency on you?" He shook his head. "Or him?" he inclined his head to Cleftjaw. "She has to kill him now."

"You think we came here without her blessing? I might not wear a fancy chain, but I'm no fool." Quentyn replied, not taking his eyes off Mychel.

Vern nodded. "Let's go find Lorn, then."

Morgan stood back slight. "Get up," she instructed Vern. She kept hold of her dagger, in case she felt the need to strike. But she really hoped it wouldn't be necessary,

"Wonderful." Quentyn spun Mychel around, using his free hand to hold the back of the Archmaester's chain while his sword poked lightly into the man's ribs. "Elwyn, be a good lad and get the door."

Elwin opens it up. The hallway is curiously empty. Michel looks confused.

Morgan murmured to Quentyn "Where are our men?"

Quentyn edged slowly forward, Mychel in front of him.

The admin misunderstood. I thought the men came inside to bar the door. The intent is that the Citadel hasn't sent anyone up despite the disturbance.

Oh, okay. I misread you earlier.
Quentyn heads out with the guards in a circle around them, following the archmaesters' directions to Lorn.

The men (and woman!) head to the gardens. A few adepts are there, but no guards again. Or archmaester. Mychel and Vern look a bit confused. "He's always here," Mychel grumbles. Outside the walled compound it sounds like some armored footsteps are marching about.

Morgan leaned close to Quentyn. "Be on your guard," she whispered. "Call one of the adepts and send them to fetch Lorn," she instructed Vern.

Vern motions and a few people go to fetch Maester Lorn. They return with an angry looking man. Morgan recognizes him as the Archmaester of the Citadel itself, Archmaester Harlan, a man known realmwide for his wisdom and on a par with the Grand Maester himself. Morgan does not recall him being part of her trial. He has a half dozen men around him with crossbows. "What is the meaning of this? Even for King Euric this is expressing dissatisfaction in a barbarous way. Release my men immediately or the City Watch shall have to get involved."
