"I ain't going in that cave alone!" he said. "But there's a track leading in there."

"Then follow me" Uhtred said as he headed into the cave. Cramped quarters, dark, what could go wrong.

The cave narrows quickly, and Uhtred gets a ways in with a torch before he hears the dripping of water from up ahead. It seems the nearby stream feeds into it a bit.

Uhtred stops and listens for awhile to the emptiness of the cave. He felt uneasy about this whole thing. He wasn't used to caves or being underground, hell, he wasn't used to forests much either. Whole place just felt surreal to him. And the situation was as well.

He hears plenty of emptiness. Chopin could have written a nocturne about the emptiness and the dripping.

He'll proceed into the emptiness then. Hopefully a polish composer wouldn't jump out at him. Or wolves. Or beast-wolf... things.

He walks into a grotto, noting a thin but steady trickle of water streaming down the walls. It bubbles and gurgles on the ground as the men enter. Uhtred sees a pile of furs in the corner, and a few animal bones.

Uhtred holds up his hand for the men to stop, and he goes forward alone to investigate the furs. His sense of unease grew.

The furs look like they belong to a wolf or a small bear. Metal has been seen into a sort of frame for it to be worn without bending. Under the furs Uhtred sees some steel claws.

He stares at it for a moment, before looking back at the men gathered. Was the frame meant for a human or a wolf?

A man. It is a few wolf pelts expertly stitched together.

He gives a bark of laughter and kneels down by it "Hey, one of you get over here. Looks like I found your monster. I want one of you to put this on, my plate makes it not fit." Easiest 15 dragons ever.

"You found a costume," a man said. "Unless those furs attack men by themselves. I picked up your axe to hand it to you today, does that mean I defeated you in battle?""

He looks at the man strangely "Who said anything about defeating in battle? Haven't found the killer yet idiot, but we found the so-called monster. Shut up and gather this together, now we're just hunting a man. Though... admittedly a fairly disturbed one." Next is the bones, then to check if there's any back entrances.

The bones ahave been torn apart and mangled as though by a rabid animal. Looking about, Uhtred sees a spiderweb of tunnels ahead. A man who knew them could potentially appear anywhere in the forest.
