The main camp hosts the sellswords and a few others that had come along with the slaves.

The mercenary company arrive at the Dig Site but not without incident. They passed by Yeen but only caught sight of it in the distance as their ship sailed along the river. Several crew members died of mysterious ailments and infections. One man never woke up from his sleep and when another tried to rouse him spiders poured out from his ears and nose. Some unlucky crew picked up the corpse and tossed it overboard. The fresh meat attracted the crocodiles and fish and in a matter of moments the floating body disappeared in a sea of splashes and redness...
Also of concern was the oppressive damp heat which made every breath laborious. Men wearing heavy armour quickly discarded it when it was evident they'd probably die of heatstroke and dehydration before seeing any real battle.
The ship pulled up to a rickety wooden dock which led to the main camp. To everyones surprise the bugs and weird animal noises were not heard or seen. A few breathed sighs of relief. Like Yeen all signs of life seemed to be vacant from this place. One man rubbed his forehead and said that the place was definitely cursed and they should leave. The sky seemed to turn a dark overcast of red which mirrored the red clay like dirt that they walked in. In the distance they could see something being unearthed by the slave diggers.
A duo (a man and woman) greeted the newcomers.
"Welcome," the man said with his arms spread wide, "To this little piece of paradise. My name is Kano Levante. I'm you're host and this is my lovely assistant, Tessa of the Shadewater...you can just call her Tessa." He gestured to the woman, who looked wild with long mangy hair and coal rubbed around the top part of her face. She looked at the newcomers with disgust. "Excuse her lack of manners and lack of greeting. Some disease got to her tongue and had to cut it out. Nasty really." He clapped his hands together and some slaves ran over. The slaves seemed overworked and bony, like they had not had enough to eat or even enough sleep.
"Who's in charge here?" The man asked.

Saera stepped forward. She had taken off her armour due to the heat and wore a thin silk tunic and breeches, her hair plaited behind her head.
"I am. My name is Saera Malorian, leader of this company. You may deal directly with me."

Inuh immediately set out from the company, setting up his equipment nearby to prepare their first meals.

Kano nodded at her, "Good good." He pointed around at some tents. "Can stay in there since those tents are empty. Unless you all brought your own things then otherwise the slaves can help you get set up."
"Over there" he waved at the large thing being dug out of the ground which seemed like an immense concrete floor for a giant building many had not seen the likes of, "is the fun part. The slaves uncovered a door a few days ago. It's still sealed. Has weird symbols and lettering all over it. From my rough translation it says 'Party inside'" He laughed and slapped his own belly. 'Haha, party inside...Damn I'm funny. But really it translates to something like 'The Tomb of Life'" He shrugged.
"I guess you will find out what's inside...if we can figure out how to open the door."

"You don't know how?" She asked. "Is there no handle?" She eyed the building with a dubious eye. "I have never seen anything like this before. It does not look like any castle or house of my experience. Even the stone is curious. Do we know which people built it?" She glanced over at the symbols and letters. "I have never seen such symbols or runes before."

He smiled and gave a shrug. He looked at Tessa, "Maybe Tessa knows eh? Tessa, how do you open the door?"
She snarled at him and shoved him.
"Lovely girl," he said with a grin.
"I'm a translator, not a hammer swinger. As far as who built it? Well, probably the same people that built up Yeen. But I haven't seen any of them around."

"But if we know about the people, perhaps we can find out how to open this thing," Saera remarked. "But I am no historian." A thought occurred to her. "Could the symbols indicate the method of opening the door? Unless you wish us simply to break the door down?"

Haidar scratched his ass as he instructs the slaves to carry his numerous trunks and bags forwards, as well as to set up his tent. His personal slave boy, Yarp, would accompany him. Yarp could read and write old valyrian quite well, as Haidar needed him to take notes and to keep his journal. His fingers weren't what they used to be after all.
Since the slaves would do all the work setting up, he might as well get a look at this so-called Door of Life. He begins his diction as Yarp writes everything down "Entry 1: Arrived on site, jungle is atrocious and the company the same. None of those Brindled Men as slaves unfortunately, no specimens to examine. One large structure on site, a subterranean object (maybe a building?) composed of black stones that seem to be exactly like the materials used to create the fabled city of Yeen. Scratch out "fabled city of", no need for such lolygarp. No don't write down Lolygarp imbecile!" he whacks the slave
"Anyway, I...er the company" he mutters quietly aside to Yarp "whenever I say the company, just write I or my name. Anyway" he clears his throat and speaks normally " have discovered a door. A complete drawing of the structure and door will be included. End Entry 1." He then proceeds to the door in question, and begins to sketch it as best he can, while also examining it and beginning the translation effort. Yarp and the other slaves will set up tables near it, because this might take awhile.

He shrugged again with a smile, "Up to you. I'm not sure what the symbols mean. I'm no historian either, the last one they sent got some sorta disease and died."
"The letters are some type of ancient valyrian." He spoke with a smile so it was either he was amused or he was just bullshitting.

"I see.; I will have my men investigate," Saera promised. "Perhaps the act of getting several minds together will yield interesting results. I will go and take a closer look presently. In the meantime, what particular dangers lie at this site? Wild beasts perhaps?"

Yarp and the other slaves will set up tables near it, because this might take awhile. The black outline represents the part of the building that's been dug up so far. The brown is the dirt. Given Haidar's knowledge in engineering, his best guess is the building is a pyramid. The door is black, almost hard to tell that it was a door if it wasn't for the symbols and lettering. Haidar's knowledge in old Valyrian confirms what he had heard from Kano. It was definitely older than old Valyrian if there could be such a thing... Destroying the door would prove quick entry into the building, but then they would lose the chance to decipher what the symbols and the lettering on the door meant if it was even possible to do so.

Some slaves died of dehydration and over work...I think...I don't associate much with the slaves."

Well why would they destroy the door? That makes no sense to Haidar. He'll begin deciphering right away, this was the find of a century!
