Kingsgrave is the seat of House Manwoody in Dorne. It is located in the Red Mountains approximately halfway through the Prince's Pass, north of Skyreach and south of the tower of joy.

Korben had regrouped with the others, looking towards Vikary. "Let's do this..." He said, ready for battle against the Volantis Forces.

Lyonel studied his force and the castle trying to estimate how many men they were opposing. He supposed that the three thousand Volentene mercenaries who had pursued him earlier were now ensconced in the castle. Even though he had more men this time, it still wouldn't be enough.
"We can't attack the castle with our cavalry and We don't know their exact numbers. What we need to do, is to draw them out. Either we bypass the castle and move south and try and make them pursue us, or we try another tactic to get them to come out in the open." he said to Korben. "Any ideas?"

Korben paced a bit as he thought it over, looking over towards lyonel. "How good are you at making ambushes?" Korben asked as he looked back towards the direction of the castle. "Because I think I'd rather try to lure them out towards us. Then risk them attacking us from the rear..."he said as he thought it over.
"I'm a pretty decent rider. I could try riding up to the castle and making some bold threat before retreating...not sure it'd get all of them though..." He said as he racked his brain for ideas. He wasn't the type of person to come up with plans. A direction and a target were usually all he needed.

Lyonel thought for a moment. "Take 500 men and conceal yourself in the hills just south of here. I'll move the remainder down the pass, past the castle and south towards Skyreach. The inhabitants of Kingsgrave cannot allow us entry into Dorne. Skyreach is unobtainable given its location, but we can move past the castle. If they don't take the bait we can move into Dorne, live off the land and cause as much mayhem as possible."
He grinned at the thought. "If they do take the bait, then stay concealed until they move past your position. Attack their rear as they move past. I'll stay only a little way ahead"
He smashed one clenched fist into his other hand.
"We'll turn and hit them shortly after you do. Speed and surprise will work in our favor."

Korben looked towards Vikary for a long while with a blank expression, before he grinned mischievously, "Oh I see...I like this plan." Korben said as he looked towards his men, "Alright, Let's get prepared. Any man who knows how to make themselves hard to see, let's go..."
And so Korben rode with his 500 men towards the hills, hoping this would work, and more so that he'd get to collect some Volantis coins as a souvenir after battle.

The mercenaries pursue. This plan might actually work. Based on an ambush roll, of course. Post them stats for realz.

Lyonel rode south with the bulk of the force past Kingsgrave, making it clear where his position was, hoping to draw the mercenaries from the castle. At his signal, his men would wheel and charge the mercenaries when he had drawn them past where Korben and his men lay waiting. He hoped Korben had chosen a place far enough that any left in the castle could not sally out to assist.
If Korben failed to gain surprise, Lyonel resolved that his men would wheel and charge the mercenaries anyway. Drawing them out from behind their walls and into the plain between the mountains might be enough.

Some men venture out to chase the horsemen, or at least cut them off from heading back north.
Korben has no ambush skill.
The fight will go down!

Round 1: The Charge
Lyonel: +60 for cavalry: 196/136 Korben: 176
Vernon: 156/74 (Dead for Korben's special)
The cavalry charge is brutal and sudden and comes from two sides, and the sellswords' hastily made line fails to stop the crush of men. Ser Lyonel comes through with lance and fury, and as the defenders set up, Ser Korben, striking from the rear, makes his way straight to the enemy commander and offs his head with a brutal strike. The defenders break and are slaughtered or captured almost to a man. Kingsgrve is left nearly defenseless.

Finding out that Kingsgrave is nearly defenceless from one of the captured prisoners, leads Lyonel to temporarily re-consider his strategy. Keeping Princes Pass open to their own forces would be vital. He met Korben in the middle of the field.
"Fancy yourself as a castle commander?" he asked the man, as he surveyed the dead and the dying around him.
