Castles in the Dornish Red Mountains include Blackmont, High Hermitage, Kingsgrave, Skyreach, Starfall, Wyl, and Yronwood. The Dornish mountains also contain the ruins of the Tower of Joy and Vulture's Roost. There are two principal passes through the mountains, the Prince's Pass, guarded by House Fowler, and the Boneway, guarded by House Yronwood. The river Wyl flows from the eastern mountains to the Sea of Dorne, while the Torentine flows from the western mountains to the Summer Sea.

Lyonel Vikary moves into the Red Mountains with his five hundred cavalry, making his way to Princes Pass. Scouts on foot and outriders on horse move before their host to guard against surprise attacks from bandits Lyonel burns and pillages any small hamlets on the way that swear allegiance to either Jonarth Storm or Bryce Dayne.

His men succeed in sowing disorder, and he finally hears that a strong force of three thousand is marching from Skyreach to deal with him. The majority, supposedly, are Volantene mercenaries.

In the face of a force almost six times as large as his own, Lyonel slowly retreated towards Nightsong at one end of Princes Pass. He sent a scout northwards towards Nightsong to find out where the western host might be located. If he could get more men , they might be able to set an ambush as the mercenaries marched through the Pass towards them. The scout carried a message to Prince Benjen with words to that effect. If not, then he would aim to draw them further north where he could harass the advancing forces at will.

Korben rides with the Fifteen hundred cavalry, plus one dog knight and andre the giant, down the boneway from the vulture's roost, scouting ahead towards yronwood. He keeps his eyes open for any settlements to search or settlers to question along the way.

He sees some settlements and small holds. Questioning reveals that the Dayne forces had headed for the castle of Wyl.

"Castle wyl, huh?" Korben said as he regarded the new information, "Might be fortunate for us." He said.
Korben scouts deeper into the boneway, curious what they can find before hitting kingsgrave.

He travels down the Boneway, and a few dozen men with bows and arrows call out to him from higher up the ridges. "The Boneway's closed! Go back to Blackhaven!"

"Is that a fact, eh?" Korben called up as he looked towards the archers, "You some of Dayne's boys, or did you happen to work for Jonrath?" He called up, curious who these men were.

"Sunspear!?" Korben asked in surprise, looking up to the men, "You folks wouldn't happen to hate the daynes, would you? Cause if so, I think we could help each other out!" He called up, curious of their response.

"We're men who seek to fight against Bryce Dayne and his Ilk. We have claimed victory and slain the Vulture Jonrath Storm..." Korben said to the man before introducing himself, "My name is Korben Kenning, of the Goldlands. And we seek to free dorne from Daynes rule, and see justice done upon him."

Korben looks towards Hollis, and speaks in a voice low enough for the man to hear, "If I don't return or they try to attack, unleash some hell upon em in my memory..." Korben said to the taller man, before looking up towards the archers, "Very well...I'll come with you alone..." He says as he begins to ride out away from the rest of the cavalry, keeping a cautious eye out for a possible trap or ambush.
