The money grabbers mutter to themselves as they look through her papers she had filled out. "We get lots of little lord kings wandering to the big city, then angry lords coming to find them. Is anyone looking for you, Mortn?" They ask.

"No, of course not," she said. It was a half-truth. Nobody was looking for a Moryn Hill, after all.

The men nod and make some marks. "Show up tomorrow for the entrance exam."

"I will," she said. "Thank you. Where do I need to go for that? And what time is it?"

"High noon. Be prepared." The council dismisses 'him'.

Morgan nodded and headed back to her quarters. Once there she turned to her roommates and asked "Does anyone know what will be covered in the exam?"

Everyone shakes their head. "Cheating is a bannable offense, but rumors are it covers all sorts of matters. But, I know some people who have passed it and they are still total fools, so it's hard to say." Olyvar leans in. "I htink it's just an excuse to weed out poor people."

Morgan winced. "Very well. I wasn't intending to cheat, of course, I was merely curious as I have never asked a maester about how he became a novice." Now, of course, she heartily wished she had done so. "I thought it would be good to prepare if it were to be possible though."

"I think they said that the focus for this was going to be foreign lands," Alvin offers. "With all these Free Cities interfering in our business and all."

Giocanda walks across bridge to the Scribes hearth, looking through the book sellers while making idle conversation with the acolytes that serve there about the citadel and its procedures, collecting as much information as possible while looking for books about the Old Valyria. Espionage 70

"I think they said that the focus for this was going to be foreign lands," Alvin offers. "With all these Free Cities interfering in our business and all." "Oh, that's interestoing." Morgan began to wish she had accepted Quentyn's offer to visit Lys after all, even though she'd desperately wanted to reach the Citadel after a long time cooped up aboard his ship. But there was no guarantee the entrance exam would focus on foreign lands by the time the Ironborn returned from Lys, so perhaps it didn't make much difference. Unfortunately, none of the few books she'd brought with her dealt specifically with foreign lands. She hated to waste an opportunity, however, so she settled down to read for the day. It was, after all, better to read something than to sit around doing nothing.

Giocanda finds many books, but really useful manuscripts on the Freehold are rare on the open market. He will need to find a much more exclusive set of sellers.

The next morning Moryn takes the exam. It is difficult to an extent, but ultimately a bit disappointing in its simplicity. It's possible that her roommates were right, and it was only to weed out the TRUE illiterates, not anyone with money and a basic ability to make a sentence.

Afterwards, she headed back to her quarters to await the verdict, and. hopefully. find out what the next step in her grand adventure would be.

Giocanda also had a espionage roll to find out information of how the Citadel operates (As he IC does not know), who has access to their large stacks of books, and how people get in (become acolytes).
He'll also ask one of the book sellers "I am sure the Citadel collection has books on this yes? Could I look at those? Though, maybe they have limited who can get in, I heard a dragon was here before!"

Giocanda needs to bride a librarian, but thank the gods they aren't paid well. The Citadel really seems less impressive the closer one looks at it.

Moryn passes the exam without effort.
